To add the user to a category, select the category in the Available Categories list, and then click Add. To modify the category permissions for this user in a category, select the category in the Selected Categories list, and then select Allow for the permissions that you want to enable.

Important: We recommend that you do not set category permissions for a single user. Instead, assign the user to a group and set category permission for the group. This allows for easier maintenance. The Available Categories list contains the categories that the user is not a member of. The Selected Categories list contains the categories that the user is a member of.

The Set permissions with Template option can be used to prepopulate a set of category permissions based on a predefined template for the user's role such as Executive or Project Manager. Use the Global Permissions section to configure global permissions for the user.

To allow or deny a global permission for the user, select the Allow or Deny check box for the permission. We recommend that you do not configure global permission for a single user. Instead, configure permissions at the group level and add users to the appropriate group.

Doing this allows for much easier administration and helps in troubleshooting permissions issues. For a complete list of global permissions, see Project Server global permissions.

Use the Group Fields section to define group and cost information for the user. Group fields are not tied to Project Server security, but are a way to specify that a user belongs to a particular group in your organization.

These fields appear in the Project Server reporting database and can be used for reporting. If your organization uses group names, codes, or cost center information for people, type the information in the Group Fields area. The values available for Cost Type are those that are defined in the Cost Type custom lookup table.

By default, the Group field is synchronized with Active Directory if you use Active Directory synchronization. Use the Team Details section to define a team association for the user. To use teams, you must first do the following:. You can use teams to pool assignments under a single resource where they can be later reassigned to other resources. For example, you could create a team resource named "Development" to which you assign software development tasks.

By assigning this resource to the Development team and selecting the Team Assignment Pool check box, you enable other users on the Development team to see any tasks assigned to the Development resource and to accept the assignments in PWA. You could also select Team Assignment Pool for a team lead and have all assignments go through that person for distribution to team members.

The System Identification Data section displays user metadata, such as when the account was created, updated, or checked out. In the System Identification Data section, type additional identifying information for the user in the External ID box. I'm familiar with that Event, as I just wrote a whole lot of macros for this same client in Project Pro.

Unfortunately, for this process, Project Pro is not an option. And as I mentioend, I'd prefer to leverage the formula language if at all possible. I am just astounded that there seems to be no way with a Formula Driven Field to default that field to the existing value, provided all of the IIF or Switch tests in a formula evaluate to False and you don't want the existing value to change.

So if you know how to leverage the Flag field to persit and existing value in a field or any other method , that's exactly what I need. You can use the corresponding pre published event ProjectEventReceiver. Dev Center. Explore Why Office? Android ASP.

Ask a question. Quick access. Search related threads. I used dafault Global Permissions throughout. RBS shouldn't matter especially since I have administrator permissions. I have the test schedule resourced with people who have PM permissions What else should I be checking?

Ok - my turn to ask a dumb question I've always managed to resolve my issues in forums, your books, or through networking. I've never had to open an issue with Microsoft seriously! Do you have the support site for MSPS that will get me started? What happens when you try to change the owner with other Project Plan who is the PM owner as this project?

Have you tried logging into the PWA with some other user who enjoys the same permission as admin user does and tried changing the owner? I would also check the version of databases, because if you see SP1 is installed in Control Panel, it doesn't mean that it is applied to Project Server unless and untill configuration wizard is completed successfully.

Let me know the outcome of above steps. If it still doesn't get fixed, i will proivde you with other action plans. Is it just happening with this particular Project Plan or is it happening across the board?

A: Across the Board. A: I had one of my other PM's make this attempt - same result. Try saving and publishing the Project Plan and then try to change the owner. A : Tried this multiple times - no change in outcome. Try creating a new project plan and re-produce the issue. See what happens with it.

A: Created new plan, published - same outcome. I would also check the version of databases, because if you see SP1 is installed in Control Panel, it doesn't mean that it is applied to Project Server unless and until configuration wizard is completed successfully.

Response : Uncertain how to really do this. I had my DBA guy check and he provided me a screen shot showed that it was applied. I trust his reply. Is it possible for you or for your customer to install latest patches in the farm. Feb CU which you can download it from the below location? I can read from the above thread that you have installed SP1 but it didn't say anything about the Feb CU Save and Publish the Project Plan and see the behavior.

Saturday, April 6, AM. Hi, you can use a flag field as status to persist the state. Sunday, April 7, PM. Hi Renke, Thanks very much for responding to my post an providing a possible solution to my need to persist the state of a field. Can you provide an example on how I'd use a Flag field to persist the state of another field? Hi, you can use the ProjectBeforePublish Event for this purpose. Tuesday, April 9, PM. Hi Renke, Thanks for your further feedback.

Wednesday, April 10, PM. Hi Renke, Oh, yes. This seems to me to be such a basic feature of any formula language.
