Please be polite. We appreciate that. Your email address will not be published and required fields are marked. This site uses Akismet to reduce spam. But everyone seems to be using something different! That seems to be the go-to site for personal comic websites. For me, personally, since Wordpress would require me to purchase a host and I don't have the 9 or 10 bucks to shell out every month, I just use tumblr for now since it's free The only thing I paid for was my comic's own domain since it's better to have your own.

What's good about Wordpress is that there seems to be better customization options than, say, Tumblr. Actually, Tumblr only has like one or two webcomic-specific themes.

And they're alright. No customisation since I am still tweaking the site and it's plugins and don't want to mess with the code till I am done with that. For my comic's site I coded my own template theme in Wordpress from scratch because I was too stupid to realize that there are a bunch of plugins for webcomics already. So I reinvented the wheel. I guess in the end it was better that way because I have more control over how I wanted to do stuff in the back end.

Mostly every comic I know uses Wordpress with ComicPress plugin, or they use tumblr and if anyone's going to use tumblr please use an actual webcomic theme and not one for posts or whatever, tumblr is trash for navigating sequential posts and has trash navigation in general Also recommend Wordpress with ComicPress or Easel as a theme.

It cost a small amount of money to deal with the hosting, but I think it's money well spent. However, Wordpress is more and more often hacked and infected with nasty viruses so make sure to keep updating to the latest version of WP and don't install any hoodo plugins. On the hacking issue, that is real. I highly recommend installing the iThemes Security plugin it's free and following it's advice. I also recommend setting your comments to approval, as a lot of spambots attack wordpress sites.

Still, I have never been hacked, and I have been attacked by hackers. My comic uses Wordpress with a Webcomic plugin and Inkblot theme. It's true that Wordpress gets hacked, but just make sure your hosting provider can deal with it. I use nearlyfreespeech guys, and they locked down my login page and sent me an email when they spotted some bot attacks.

Thanks for all the replies, guys! They sure are helpful, although I am even more aware now that this will take time as well as attention and will be the cause of quite a headache.
