This is awesome! I am teaching media courses at different schools and have only been waiting for a NLE that is powerful but also free so that schools and students can install and use it. I will now use Kdenlive in my courses and donate for every course I finish! As you can see here in other replies, no. This has been discussed many times before.

Everybody finds another name cool, so please enjoy inventing cool names. But seriously, I wholeheartedly agree with TheDiveO. Package installed from stable ppa crashes immediately under Ubuntu I am using NVidia graphics card with proprietary driver. Users with Nvidia cards have experienced this crash. It has been fixed upstream if you want to try the testing PPA. Some distros like arch have also fixed this. Otherwise maybe be best to wait for Yes I am also going through this situation in ubuntustudio I know from experience.

Thank you … I have already updated and returned everything to normal, about updating in the middle of production only saw that updated kdenlive then came with many updates and was the first time this happened. Generally I test the app separately when they update ….. The link of the latest release I have downloaded this version by altering the url, but this package throws a number of missing dependencies MLT, frei0r at me on launch, after which I can only abort.

Version Appimage still wasting an awful lot of CPU when idle. The last correctly behaving one was alpha1. From my several decades long actual experience, porting improves stability. The simple rationale: more system variance, more users, so this will at first look ugly, as more hidden bugs get uncovered. But it also leads to faster fixes, rapidly improving overall quality. And if you are anxious about stability then give us a helping hand. For instance reproduce bugs and regressions using minimal projects, so they can be fixed.

If I look at myself back in the day, I was busy with a lot of Windows only software and that basically kept me there. But I wanted to switch. I did for two days only to run back to Windows cause the the overwhelming amount of things to learn made me stressed and disheartened. My first step was to install those and download a Ubuntu theme for Windows yes, I just wanted to be as much Linux as I could.

No stress and I am grateful for the fact they were cross platform, so I could make this easy transition. It was the same with me. I started with windows and I worked a lot with 3d software. One day I gave Blender a try and I fell in love with it. Who knows, maybe in the future some editors can tell a similar story because KDEnlive brought them to the FOSS world… So just relax and be happy about the port. Thanks a lot to the developers!

I had never heard of kdenlive until a few hours ago when a friend of mine called needing a little help with filming some instructional videos. And for being your first port to Windows, well….. Thanks so much to the developers! Seriously love this project — thank you so much to Jean and all the other developers involved. Freaking brilliant! Kudos for the Windows version.

Microsoft removed their free Windows Movie Maker app and this makes a nice replacement. I like the sophistication offered, but even the simple things familar to a Windows Movie Maker or iMovie user are all easily accessible. I really like the video track layering and composting..

Hello, i built a windows package for Kdenlive. Is it a good idea to share it with the community? Would you mind posting this question to the mailing list?

That way all the devs can see it. Invalid file. Useless software. But once I got the static ffmpeg file, and followed the installation steps using content from the file, it worked! Any ideas? Teresa, I cannot reproduce. I downloaded the recent Only for rendering, make sure that in the setting the correct paths to ffmpeg, melt, etc are used, and not the old one from the previously installed version.

Where can I get them from? Kdenlive used to work fine… on windows Now I get the message too, Breeze Icons missing. How to fix this? Breeze icons are missing in version Did you install the additional ffmpeg files, and did you check that you installed them into the correct locations??? So there are definitely still issues on Win Thanks for bringing it to the Windows platform.

I think you need to start the program, exit the program, and start again. I was having exactly the same problem and it went away when I restarted the program. Does one exist? The Article implies it does. Any link please? I have a problem with position and zoom. Under the image png is white line. I found out a thread with possible problem of MLT. It is possible fix it on Win10?

I have tried this as per another web site's suggestion but, no luck. Kdenlive Windows: see version Effect Groups are finally back, you can now create your effect combinations and use them across projects again. Features video Watch the video for a detailed overview of some of the features:.

Looks really great improvement and big steps. May I ask about the new Titler, how is the future plan about it? Thank you for hard work! Thank you guys for your hardwork and these amazing features. This may speedup the workflow between blender for compositing and other tools. Many thanks for this new version! We recommend you to use the AppImage from the download section. Debian keeps the OS stable and uses more reliable and stable code older more reliable kernel. You can always use newer software via appimage, flatpak or snap.

I see the Thank u guys for your hard work and this new version. It is an amazing video editor, I really love Kdenlive. Are there any plans to implement a morph transition effect in the future? The ability to do a paint scribble effect would also be very cool! It renders as AVC with Vorbis for audio. This is based on version And I reported it here 3 weeks ago.

Also, there is no motion tracker in the Windows version. I checked Finally, there is this bizarre issue on the Windows version that even if I try to render a small one minute clip in the timeline it exports it as 27 minutes with 26 minutes of that being black screen.

A lot of issues at least on the Windows version that I experienced with previous versions and have still not be addressed. But the 3 different short clips I tried add 8 minutes to the end zone. If I need to create a short video, maybe could be a problem. Es cierto. Es una falla importante.

Por favor, avisar a los desarrolladores! Thanks for reporting. You sound a bit upset, but sorry we are a very small team, offering our spare time as possible, and we have a lot of things to fix and add. Even simple things can take long to get focus. Moreover, Windows is kind of foreign for most of us, it takes some more time to prepare things for that system, and we are not helped by the tons of incompatibilities and lack of libraries packaged.

OpenCV Tracker is one of them, so as the numerous audio effects that you may be lacking too Ladspa , and others. I really would need help for the Windows packaging, and other devs for other features. We are doing our best to bring things to our users as fast as possible… but this is always too slow, for our taste too! I wanted to thank you guys for all the great work you put in. Since like 2 years, kdenlive has been getting really amazing!

It is is a lot of fun to see it continually improve. It is important to realize that you guys have a small team and that kdenlive is currently the best opensource and free video editor on the planet, thanks to your efforts! Therefore, being grateful is really important and there are ways to criticize constructively and non toxically. Keep up the great work! Yeah, you can tell that Windows is highly proprietary and Kdenlive, being opensource, just do not mesh.

I generally see that opensource does not integrate well on Windows, as it is a closed black box system. I have switched over from Windows to Linux 15 years ago and have never regretted it. Windows is a royal P. Renaming effect instances would be also a handy feature. And… the pip package is called OpenTimelineIO and also requires wheel to build, so the full command for the error message would have to be:. It looks awesome great!!

I appreciate your effort and hard-work. Thank you for this great kdenlive. By the way, I have finally transferred to Linux. Log Error kdenlive I had this problem on my Core2, solved when I change my system to Ubuntu Great job from the developers, thanks. Can the developers fix that. The code was updated with a new QtQuick version. Yes, Dev are aware. It will be solved soon. The lack of the bar was the first thing I noticed- well, that and how much better the whole program worked.

So I imported a project which I worked on earlier on version It opened and I could work seamlessly without any crash at all! So far so good. But when I try to render, nothing happens. This is not the path I chose for the output file. But even when I choose the path I want, it just hangs. When opening a project with a newer version, it will create a backup file of the old project file, you should be able to open it with the old version of kdenlive.

If you use the appimage version, you can several versions around for concurrent use. I have a 60fps project and 60fps clips, but the project monitor behaves as if everything is 25fps.

For example, at on the timeline, the project monitor claims it is Additionally, when trying to add AV tracks, the audio and video tracks of the AV track are separated. Adding two AV tracks gives. Any ideas? First of all thank you for your great job.

I use the 64bit windows portable vertion. The old vertion works without problems. Can you help me? Thank you for any answer. Hello and thank you for your job. I just installed kdenlive with ubuntu I would like to have a dark theme. Awesome release. One cool new feature would be renaming the project something wherew the pronunciation is at least obvious. Kdenlive sounds like it would be a command line program or something.

I was trying to show somebody some options for doing video for their salon, and they pretty much dismissed kdenlive on the name alone thinking it would be way too complex and unfriendly.

ANd now I can change the speed of the video to without scrolling the mouse button for a minute. Matter of taste.

For myself, I like it as it is. Kdenlive Kinda disappointing as a build … whassup with Wow, I did a video on new features of I just published a comparison video of And then I check in today and see this version. I cannot skip this version because the features are just too important. Great work guys, Flowblade 2. I have recently started using kdenlive because I am new to linux.

Have been using linux since 3 months. I have installed kdenlive I am using linux mint Yesterday while editing video videos I stumble into many problems which previously worked fine such as renaming clips, editing previously saved title clips and even using transition and effects, the clips doesnt show when applied.

I am not sure why is such the case but where can I find previous versions kdenlive? Use the AppImage. All the improvements are awesome, but the zoom bar for effects will change my life! Thanks for the amazing work! For some reason the automatic pitch correction while slowing down or speeding up a clip is not working on Linux Mint flatpak.

It is grayed out. It does work in the Appimage. Thank you so much guys. Amazing work. If I change back to it looks alright. Hi guys, Kdenlive and digikam- the best open source projects out there, period. I regularly donate you you both teams and still feel I owe you. This last release was a good jump in how it felt to use the program.

Still, three things hold this back: 1- The effects are mostly amateur-ish to silly. In order to be taken seriously, Kdenlive needs colour-grading tools that are not shitty. Sorry to the devs who make the current tools, but that is a place to spend more time.

Otherwise kdenlive only works for cut-and-rearrange. Start to render and it breaks. Funny enough, typically kdenlive breaks and the render still happens, but anyhow not acceptable memory management.

The focus of the team at the moment is definitely not effects but improving the editing workflow with pro features. Last releases we introduced 3 point editing and in the future expect advanced trimming and same track transitions as well as a major upgrade to the audio workflow.

How would you recommend sending a project that recreates that issue without shipping gigs of videos and images? Hi, great job! Thank you! A few concerns: preview rendering working, rendered files are in the cache folder, but they are not used for playback seemingly, as its not played better with them.

Could you please fix this? This request looks positively delicious! This is a HUGE quality of life boost! Same goes for as auto aligning of clips by audio helllllo nurse! I mean, interviews. The tracking stuff also looks really neat for aging fun effects. The scroll bar in the timeline is now back in the daily build May 03 and fully functional. However, be aware if you use a dark theme I use Breeze Dark , you will barely see it since the scroll bar is already dark itself.

I am using using How to enable gpu in this? GPU acceleration is switched of by purpose due to stability reason crash and not proper rendering. Motion tracking effect is unavailable in Any ideas what is wrong here??

I have been using this since but this is nightmare and been fuccked up so much…. Why saving function is not working, its just makes new folder not saves procejt? Why you destroy old good program to this shiiiit??? Using Kdenlive It seems you have a package issue. Thanks for that piece of Software. Something is confusing me.

Same as at the Project Monitor. And also the direction is the other way around at the Project Monitor. Hope you understand what I mean. Englich is not my Mother tongue. Yes, there are some inconstancy using shift and ctrl throughout Kdenlive. Looks nice, but on linux Ubuntu this application does not open media files from any external hard disks, network or usb drives. Searched around for a couple of days thinking it was a bug and nobody seems to have a problem with this.

Upgraded from Makes frame-by-frame cutting far more difficult. Are they coming back someday or is this a design change?
