I expect those of you who have paid your dues working in a supermarket may well remember that feeling. This free version features a handful of levels designed to give you a few snapshots of what the gameplay's like at various stages throughout the game. More revealing than just shoving the first few introductory levels your way, it'll get your fingers working to get that re-stocking trolley around the shop floor.

It's a swashbuckling gallery shooter Type Full. The Corsair may not be the best game on show this week, but it is a full game for free, and therefore wins this week's pick of the week. The game's actually been around in some form for a couple of years now, after making its debut on Pocket PCs.

Its roots do show through in its slightly dated visuals. This is no Wild West Guns - although the game's clearly been made by a professional crew, there's more spit than polish. But, avast me hearties, it still has comparable screen-jabbing gameplay, several different level environments and some challenging boss battles.

Other than those, the game is fairly easy to play through, so we recommend you do. It's Tap Mania , man. What rock have you been living under? Type Demo. Ok, so all you actually do in Tap Mania is try to tap the screen more times than your opponent, who has a tap button on the other end of the screen from you. We probably shouldn't even bring this app to your attention, as it's only likely to end up with a smashed screen and a fistfight as you play it half-drunk in a pub with a slightly drunker friend.

That's the problem with crap apps. They take on a new life of their own once alcohol comes into the equation. Tap Mania , something you'd never consider playing on an idle afternoon, becomes a killer app once your fifth pint has been sunk. Twitter Facebook Reddit.

The gameplay is slow and repetitive, the story is dull and has no effect on the game, and the music is migraine-inducing. There is hardly any resource management and you do not get to build anything other than ships. It's a shame, as the game would have been so much better if you had been able to move on to land and set up your own outpost.

Without this, the game has very limited appeal. With very few units and slow gameplay, Corsairs is definitely only for strong fans of the strategy genre. And sailors will surrender if all their officers are killed. But, if your personal corsair dies, the game is over! I liked the fact that you have to stay on top of the markets.

The buy and sell rates change with demand in real life"and in this game. After a while you really know the value of silk and coffee! Eventually, you'll be repairing and building ships in your nations ports as well as maintaining the ports themselves. Speaking of the ships; there are twelve different types represented, which is quite a lot. You do have some game setting options such as music, voices, sound effects and game difficulty.

Merchants don't fight, but all others will. I spent many hours playing this game and getting frustrated by my not so great performance, BUT I really liked it. Between the tutorials, the manual, and perseverance, I was able to start getting my act together. Like all games, it has a few quirks. You get used to them and, some may even say, it builds character.

This is a challenging and fairly accurate game that is sure to keep you entertained. Fair winds and calm seas to the designers of this great game.

How to run this game on modern Windows PC? She has the same problem as the Ranger during her pre-Awakening or Succession where the most powerful attacks consume too much stamina. Thankfully, you can alleviate this problem with MP Potions.

You'll just need to add the MP Potion key tap into your movement combos. Better yet, if you can find some MP Recovery on Hit items for the Corsair, then that's a better way to deal with her stamina issues. Incorporating both is a good failsafe option. One common gripe with the Corsair is that her fast attacks don't exactly cover good ground. Their range is rather short or it can be difficult to aim her attacks at a frontal target.

For this, she has her so-called mermaid skills any skill that transforms her into a mermaid - they're decent AoE attacks. The problem with these mermaid skills is that Corsair enjoys them too much and it will lock her into an animation. That animation more often than not doesn't have any iframes or invulnerability windows. This opens her up for some frustrating crowd control and wasted opportunity.

She can break free from that crowd control fast but it takes a while to get used to this setup. In addition to the mermaid abilities' long animations, some of the Corsair's other skills even the non-mermaid ones can be fiddly to use.

Her attacks have some of the longest and most inconvenient wind-ups in the game. Sure, some of them have iframes or Super Armor, but the wind-up makes it so that the enemies can see them coming from a mile away. Needless to say, the Corsair telegraphs her skills pretty obviously.
