Nicknamed as 'El Matador', the Spanish rally legend Carlos Sainz may have not won the most races, but has been voted by fans and expert journalists as the greatest WRC driver of all time.
He won the and drivers' championship while driving for Toyota, and has started the most rallies with career starts, winning 26 of them. Today, the year-old is still actively participating in motorsport, winning the edition of the Dakar rally and entering the Extreme E, an all-electric SUV off-road racing championship. The late Scotsman won 25 rallies and the drivers' championship while driving for Subaru. He also held the record for the youngest-ever WRC champion at 27 years old, and even though he didn't win more championships, he was always a contender in every season he has participated in, and earned the adoration of fans thanks to his flamboyant and no-holds-barred driving style.
Tommi Makinen may be known today for leading the success of Toyota's rallying program as Team Principal, but as a driver, he was also a world rally legend. He won four consecutive drivers' titles for Mitsubishi from to and won 24 rallies.
