Transfer outlook 2003 from xp to windows 7

2022.01.16 00:37

I don't know what they are thinking. I don't know if it is inappropriate to mention others software, but I did find a solution to my question above - it is called OE Classic. It is remarkably similar to Outlook Express. Most importantly, it imported my emails within their folders. Also it imported my address book and email account details.

It could not import message rules. Maybe that will help others. The joy in finding that email program soon vanished when I tried to use Skype.

It insisted on using my MS sign-in so all my contact and settings were lost. Got that resolved, then tried to move my music in to Windows Media Player. That worked ok, but I had to spend hours rebuilding my playlists. Maybe there are reasons I am not seeing, but it seems MS intentionally makes moving to a newer OS difficult by needlessly changing things.

Aren't there people in each software development team whose goal is to make MS software upgrades seamless? On a different subject, I have to search for this thread via my member name. Where do find my question listed sequentially with others questions? David Toby. Hopefully the Win 10 Mail app will do this, or do I need to buy an email program? I can export from OE, but how to import to Mail?

Tnks again Leo. Leo, I read your article and feel encouraged however I am concerned there might be system requirements in order to update windows since my computer is so old. I have a desktop with XP for home and outlook I have no idea what version of explorer we are running. We are trying to put off replacing this dinosaur until after August bonus check time, yeah!

And to clarify, does upgrading to windows 7 upgrade my explorer version? I have no idea what version I have but I do know that various sites we visit recommend updating our browser. Is there anything we should first check before switching to windows 7 and transferring our outlook?

Thanks so much! I did everything as described, also made sure that the. What am I doing wrong? Nice clear instructions but unfortunately it did not work for me.

I am trying to import Outlook Express. I can see all the. Thanks, Mark. Sincere Thanks again Leo! Very useful article — thank you. In OE, one had the choice to deny any message becoming automatically read. Norton Internet security is installed and running. Malware can enter when you open an attachment which contains a virus or clicking on a link in the email which points to a malicious website.

Here are a couple of articles on email viewing tnad the risk of infection. Can just opening an email download both viruses and spyware? Can I really catch an email virus just by looking? Thanks, Leo. It worked just as you described, and I had a LOT more confidence going through the process since you described everything so clearly. Congratulations, Leo… on your excellent, clear directions.

There were some slight differences for Windows Live Mail , but in general things went really smoothly because of your precision and clarity. Many thanks!!! I have been using vista for a while and then decided to try the Windows 8 pre release. When I first loaded the pre release I thought that I had lost all my emails Outlook but then when I reinstalled Microsoft Office and all my emails came back.

Phew Naturally when the final release for Windows 8 was made available I thought Great and updated my version. I have multiple folders and groups on my outlook express address book. What do I do to get these so I can place them in the new greater than nothing Live Mail?? Hi , i tried to import my mails from outlook express 6 to windows live mail but all my mails have not been imported. I have some mails in my inbox in outlook express 6 but only mails are imported in windows live mail.

Heres a Very belated alternative. As cheap 2nd hand Win 7 machines are now available the 2nd wave of upgraders are on the hunt. You just need both machines on your local network. It was so easy! When I open windows explorer to paste the outlook store folder my windows explorer does not display the address bar to paste it into.

After several searches in the help menu from the windows help site none of their suggestions provides me the address bar that you show in your picture. The only thing I got was a button saying address but it does nothing. I went to store folder and copied pasted the link in Window explorer but my emails came out in individual folders. So Now I have many folders: Inbox folder, Outbox folder, sent folder and many more subfolders. And the email folders do not open.

I get prompted to choose a programme to open them. The instructions posted here worked perfectly for me. Thanks, Leo! Microsoft no longer supports Windows Live Mail. Thunderbird is a good alternative. Windows Essentials suite reached end of support on January 10, As of January 10, , Windows Essentials is no longer supported on Windows 10, and is unavailable for download.

Best I know of is to re-enter the rules manually on the new system Nov Your email address is associated with the email service you use, not the email program you use on your computer.

You should be able to switch computers and email programs — even operating systems — and keep your existing email address. Outlook part of Microsoft Office is alive and well and works just fine in Windows 7.

Outlook Express is not available. You need to contact your email provider for instructions to reset or change your password. Bite the bullet now and move to a better email client. Outlook Express comes already installed in XP mode.

No installation is necessary. There are scenarios where you can copy your contact list — typically it means exporting the contact list from your old machine, copying the export file to the new computer, and then importing it into whatever email program you use now. Oh well, thanks for reading in any case. I had no idea how I was going to do the transition…what a great help!

Thank you! So very grateful — finally I got this done!! Thank you very very much. Regards from Stockholm Reply. Thankyou So much. At best you can import the email, and would have to set up different accounts within Windows Live Mail. You can check the Microsoft site for Windows 7 System Requirements to see if your machine can do it.

Do note that the article you just commented on is about Outlook Express, not Outlook — they are two different things. How do Outlook and Outlook Express relate? Thanks, Mark Reply.

Thanks Leo for the info. Kindly help me how can i import all my mails to windows live mail or outlook My old PC has windows xp and now i am using Windows 8 on my laptop. Awaiting your prompt reply. I recently got a new HP elitebook, and set up access to MS Outlook and got my gmail, no problem, but then I tried importing my old Outlook pst file because I was missing all of my contacts.

What resulted was that I got my contacts but I now cannot get any new mail since that action. My Outlook is stuck and saying it is synchronizing subscribed folders and I'm also getting sidebar notifications from Microsoft of new mail in "Gmail2" but don't know where to find it - doesn't show up in my Outlook software.

I don't know how to fix! It sounds like you have an imap account - you probably don't want to import mail into it, for starters, you can take the mailbox over quota and need to archive it. Any of the pst mail that didn't sync up yet, won't sync up. If you have pop before and want to go back to pop, you can but need to use the manual set up option. It under Advanced options on the First add account screen.

Diane, I just finished read this article, but unfortunately it didn't address my Outlook problem and so far I couldn't even found any post on the net that even talks about the same situation that I have. I was wondering if you could give me some pointers to look at, I used to be a network admin, so I'm not afraid of touching the registry or running any script if that would fix my problem.

I did install SP2 for the MS Office, every function of Outlook works as it supposed to except one thing: The Reminders window doesn't pop up even though I had about 10 items in the reminders window before I reinstalled everything.

If I create a new event with a reminder option, the reminder window does pop up. But all the events that was part of the PST file before the new install, won't trigger the Reminders window. I have read several … Read more ». Reminders are not exposed - you can use a list view and see the remind at time. This should have the time, even if dismissed.

Or you can use a macro to list the times. Hidden files are set to display, just not sure why unable to nagivate to the folder. There is no 2nd monitor that the navigator might be using to display that search feature. This is Office software. You'll need to point the POP accounts to the pst files on the Email tab - select the account then lick Change Folder at the bottom.

Diane, regarding importing the RWZ file, does the file need to be saved in a certain location or even saved at all after the import has been completed? Both computers had Outlook Also, I noticed after the import that IMAP didn't care for a lot of the rules and generated a pop-up stating that some of the steps were incomplete.

Thanks for your ongoing assistance The RWZ file can be in Documents or anywhere - its only used to import. You can delete it or save it as a backup. Schedule Management. Calendar Printing Tools. Calendar Reminder Tools. Time and Billing Tools.

Hi Diane, This has to be one of the most thorough "how to's" for moving outlook to another computer. We are in and this would cover a large percentage of todays needs in this area. Reply to James Simoneau. Yeah, it can get confusing.
