Or maybe hdmi to dvi is better at a 17" monitor, not sure, I never ran such a small monitor, however I have ran a 22" monitor with dvi to hdmi and it looks fantastic, hdmi is always accurate for colors, anything else is just second rate, calibrated or not. Don't think I am arguing with you, rather i'm trying to provide the op with the best pc advice possible. I suppose your offering an alternative, I understand that, even if I think it's unnecessary unless the op has no other choice.

I went through the process of "blindly" setting the display resolution to a lower setting. I have done all of these at least five times each at different times, on different TVs, using different HDMI cables, with absolutely no results.

When I have the console plugged into my computer monitor I can navigate to the display options and it shows that the output is set to DVI, but gives me no way to change that.

I have messed with the resolutions, turned on and off the "Display Detection" option, and I still have no success. The most I have gotten is a very static-filled and green-tinted picture on one of my friend's TVs. At the longest point I was able to see this distorted Xbox menu for five seconds before it cut out with the TV telling me it was receiving no signal.

I spent multiple hours going over repeatedly the methods and troubleshooting I have previously mentioned on both sets of TVs to find that nothing has worked beyond having a brief distorted view of the Xbox menu. I was thinking about leaving the console with my family to enjoy, but I'm not too sure if they can stomach the standard-quality component cables for too long on a 55inch p TV. The component cables still work perfectly as well as the DVI connection to my computer monitor.

I merely removed the bulky plastic encasing on the end of it. I've provided a picture below as to what I'm talking about. Yes, I have tried every possible cable configuration. HDMI alone with no other Audio or Video cables plugged in, and also the configuration I used with my computer monitor but without plugging the component cables into anything. This adapter is for TVs so ancient that they lack even basic composite RCA inputs, possessing only the ol' RF coaxial jack, which translates into tube sets made prior to Personally, we would never even take our out of the house , let alone bring it over to a friend's house that lacked component inputs like we'd have any such friends in the first place , but if your buddies rock the Luddite-style then ten bucks is all it takes to get your crappy signal transfer-on.
