The alpha-3 code is not made available free of charge. Users of ISO country codes can consult an archive of changes to the standard on our server. It contains the codes from Parts 1, 2 and 3 of ISO in three different formats. You will be notified when changes are made so you can download the latest versions. In this way, you can be sure that your database is always using the most up-to-date information from ISO. ISO has three parts: codes for countries, codes for subdivisions and formerly used codes codes that were once used to describe countries but are no longer in use.
The country codes can be represented either as a two-letter code alpha-2 which is recommended as the general-purpose code, a three-letter code alpha-3 which is more closely related to the country name and a three-digit numeric code numeric-3 which can be useful if you need to avoid using Latin script. The codes for subdivisions are represented as the alpha-2 code for the country, followed by up to three characters.
