Drive-through and curbside Community Testing Sites are available for those eligible to be tested based on CDC or state and local guidelines. These sites are supported by insurance, self-pay, or government programs. No-cost testing is also available based on eligibility at Walmart testing sites supported by Quest Diagnostics.

Testing by self-pay is also available for those who do not wish to submit to insurance or the government for reimbursement. Persons with or without symptoms can qualify for a free test.

Quest Diagnostics is the lab company screening, scheduling appointments, processing the samples and delivering results to those tested at our drive-through and curbside testing sites.

The drive-thru sites use a PCR self-administered nasal swab to test for active infection. This test allows those being tested to swab their own nose onsite while in their vehicles, observed by a trained Walmart pharmacist to ensure the sample is taken correctly, and then the sealed sample is dropped into a container on their way out of the drive-thru site.

In some locations, we are providing access to testing via a curbside pick-up of take-home, non-observed PCR self-administered collection kits to test for active infection. Once on site, those picking up a kit will park in the pharmacy pick-up parking spaces and call the number on the sign; those picking up a kit will need to wear a mask and stay in their cars for verification and ID check.

The take-home, self-collection kit will use a self-administered nasal swab test that will allow those being tested to swab their own nose at their convenience at home. Once the sample has been collected, patients can follow the directions on how to ship the test kit for processing, following the included instructions.

HHS community sites will test for active infection using either rapid diagnostic antigen tests or PCR tests that are sent to the laboratory for testing. Testing is available at some drive-thru pharmacy windows. People being tested are provided with a testing kit from the pharmacist through the drive-thru window tray.
