I sincerely doubt it's the save games folder as such. IF somehow related i suspect it's the number of files, so deleting old ones and leaving current ones, let's say leaving ten files should suffice.
If that works it might be a memory issue with the game launcher or the AV. If you still want to proceed then renaming in Documents the CK2 folder as a whole or the save games folder only will be enough.
