I tried removing the Subsonic filter jumpers completely, or putting one in the OFF section, but there was no sound at all when I tried that.

I did not need the filters and do not miss them that I can tell, but I'm dialing the gain in the range and it's sounding incredible! This is exactly what I needed to know, so glad I checked on here. And I assume the higher I set the capacitance, the more the high-end roll-off? Coming at this from an electric guitar player perspective. Also assuming that two different RCA cables very short run add a touch of capacitance along the way as well?

Yes the cabling from the cartridge to the preamp contributes to the total capacitance. If you don't know the value of this pF per metre is a reasonable estimate. Then the Tube Box has 47pF by default and you can add different values using the switches.

I'm not sure if it's leaps and bounds above the installed Pluto preamp in my U-Turn. In fact, I find it a bit more "flubby" in the bass than the Pluto.
