It did something that I never expected it to do, it dropped my case temp by 10 degrees Celsius.
Cons: It makes my case vibrate a bit, probably the poorly made case by Dell though. Cons: Arrived DOA. Hooked it up and got a moment of power, then nothing. Now it's the hastle of returning it and waiting for the new one Overall Review: I took off the fan and put a brand new cooler master one, now it's totally silent. If you want to void the noise, just like me and under your own risk take off the fan, 3 screws for open the PS and 4 screws to take off the noisy fan.
I now have to replace it because the fan is starting to fail only getting rpms. Cons: Spark and burn after running 3 min. Luckily my system still working Too bad I can not return it Watch out buyer!! Just plug the computer straight into the wall outlet and see if it runs well for a few days. So many people don't use any power back up and they are clueless about how those cheap surge protectors don't protect anything. When you have the time and money, buy another UPs I would recommend using a power strip with good surge protection instead of plugging the PSU directly into the wall.
Some protection is much better than none at all. I would only recommend a UPS if you routinely do very important work that needs to be saved manually rather than automatically as in MS Office and you run the risk of corrupting or losing it if the computer switches off without warning.
The question is "What is a good surge protector? I have a feeling that his old UPS just needs new batteries. Surge protectors do not supply conditioning, and after just one surge, the surge protector could be "burned out" giving no warning They should be replaced every six months or so.
Agreed; that is why I stated that some protection is better than none at all. Good surge protectors are insanely difficult to find. They do exist however, but are expensive, and last far longer than the usual cheap MOV-based strips.
If I could throttle the fan down, I would. Pros: Happy with Newegg of course but they have to stand behind manufacturers rebate promises. Pros: First this buger is heavy, allmost six pounds. View of interior parts look well thoght out and not sloppy with wax as some cheaper products. Clean, stable power with very little variance between idle and full load. Very long connectors reaches all my drives at the bottom of the case.
It has been said that the non push pin connectors are not preferable but these have much less chance of shorting due to looseness of push pins. Powers my x2 OC'ed to with 8 drives, three mm and 1 80 mm fans with less then.
I should not that Speedfan shows both lower but I checked them with a digital multimeter and it shows them at 5. I have read the fan is loud but I cannot hear it as it probably runs at a lower speed with the effencincy of my case setup. Temps are a couple c lower on a few items and I did have to turn down the exhaust fan as it pushes more air the the PSU I replaced it with.
Cons: All cables are not sleeved but for the price I could not expect more. I could have gotten a few more. Overall Review: It would seem that Cooler Master had let their qc slip a little as per earlier reviews, but I can tell you that is not the case with the one I received. I had purchased this for a freind that had very little money alloted for a quality psu, but after testing on my own rig,I just gave him my old PSU for his that I was building.
As a senior member of a reputable OC forum I had to void my warranty to inspect the layout and quality of the interior before I would do a review of any product. Sold by: Newegg Shipped by Newegg. This item is currently out of stock and it may or may not be restocked.
