Patagoniaのマザーズバッグ【バイリンガル日記】

I love this bag from Patagonia so much and have always used it.

このパタゴニアのバッグが大好きでいつも使っていました。

It comes in handy as a nappy bag with its big size and side pockets. 

サイズが大きくサイドポケットがあるので、マザーズバッグとしてとても便利です。

However, since I’ve used it too much, the side pockets wore out.

けれどサイドのポケットの生地が破れてしまいまったので

So, I went to the Patagonia store and asked them for a repair.

パタゴニアのお店に行き、お修理をおねがしました。

I knew that they repaired their products, but this was my first time to use this service.

パタゴニアはお修理可能だということは知っていたけど利用したのは初めてでした。

What surprised me was that the cost of repair was free.( There are of course some products that you need to pay for the repair.)

でね、このお修理費が無料で、本当にびっくりして。（有料になる商品ももちろんあります）

I visited the website of Patagonia and read through the story about ‘’Repair is a radical act.’’ which I had been curious about.

これを機に気になっていた「修理は急進的な行為だ」というパタゴニアのメッセージを、HPのストーリーで読んでみました。

I learned that this apparel company was really practicing sustainable and ethical production.

Even though I have a few of their products, this was my first time to learn about their policy.  

そして、サステイナブル、とかエシカルという言葉が単なるお題目ではなく本当に本当に真剣にその言葉を実践するアパレル企業なんだということを、恥ずかしながら今更きちんと知りました。製品はたくさん持っていたのにね。

It might be too late but now I feel that knowing these things can help me develop a special attachment or value towards the products that I own.

知るのが遅すぎたけど、こういうことを知っているか知らないかで、その製品に対する愛着や価値がさらに増すなぁと実感。

And what’s more, I can feel happy when I think my action will be for a better environment or someone who I don’t see. 

自分の選択が微力ながら環境のためになっていたり見えない誰かのためになっていると思うだけで幸せも感じられて嬉しい！

Now, I'm more a fan of Patagonia products, but I'll have to ask myself if I really need more products when I visite their shop again!

今私はさらにパタゴニアのファンになってしまったけど、お買い物するときは本当にそれが必要か？自分にきちんと問わなければならないな。
