EDIBLE GOLD LEAFS

Kanazawa at Ishikawa Prefecture is well known for gold leaf that is edible. You can order a cup of Macha or coffee that includes gold leaf in the café.

When we have a family get together for the New Year and celebrate, we drink a sake with some gold leaf.

It is said that we live longer if we drink the sake with gold leaf in the New year’s season.

We usually decollate a cake or ice cream with gold leaf. The gold leaf is edible and does not taste and smell, however we use gold leaf to present a drink or food.
