Matthew Moon, a bitter man of secrets, bad habits, and a malevolent past, rides second in command as Beto's gun hand like he had decades before. He carries with him his Colt pistol, a single-barrel shotgun, a tattered book of names and tally marks, and his late brother's fur greatcoat. The remaining members of their convoy of misfits include an old man with a limp, a Frenchman under a false name, a disabled bounty hunter, a pair of brothers with seventeen fingers between them, a Texan sharpshooter, and a couple middle-aged thieves, and not an ounce of trust or loyalty. On the road, bands of depraved men lie in wait for vulnerable travelers like the circus, setting traps and ambushes, and reviving age-old grudges. Within the convoy, a liar struggles frantically to conceal the new blood on his hands. Even among the circus performers hide dangerous contenders with ulterior motives. It's every man for himself. Who will make it out alive?
