Gradually, Tulsi’s interest in the environment increased. Tulsi joined the state’s afforestation plan as an activist for plant protection. In 2006, Tulsi got a job as a planter in the Forest Department.
Tulasi Gowda played the responsibility of tree planter for almost 14 years. During this, Tulsi planted countless trees and plants. Along with this, he also played an important role in the conservation of biological diversity.

Most recently on Jan 26, 2020, the Government of India rewarded Tulsi Gowda with the prestigious Padma Shri award, the fourth-highest award given to citizens of India. In 1999, Tulsi was 1 of 68 people to receive that award and she was 1/2 people to receive an award for contributions to nature.
Karnataka Rajyotsava award is given yearly to citizens over sixty of Karnataka State who is distinguished in their respective fields. She reaffirmed her purpose for her actions by saying that while Tulasi is glad to have received the Padma Shri award.
