This movie shows the past time of 1279 A.D when the Chola dynasty was thrown out of their territories by the Pandyas. In order to save their lives, the Chola send his son and a few other people to a secret place and also take a sacred idol with them which is very important to the Pandyas. Afterward, the Pandyas tried to find them but failed. After centuries, in 2008, a group of Indian archaeologists decided to find the secret place of the Chola with the clues left by the Pandyas.

After the archaeologist Chandramouli (acted by Pratap K. Pothen) went missing during her research, the government official organized a team to find the archaeologists. The officials took the help of Chandramouli’s daughter to get some clues about where her father could potentially go. The rest of the film shows whether the archaeologist will be able to find the Chola dynasty and whether the officials could find the archaeologist or not. The shooting of the film ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’ started in July 2007 and was completed in 2008. The filming was done at various places including Chalakudy, Kerala, Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, Ramoji Film City, and many more. It is produced by R. Ravindran. The production was completed under the production company of Dream Valley Corporation. Let me tell you that the cinematography is done by Ramji.
