Now 40 years old boy Stephen McDaniel got engaged in a murder controversy when one of his neighbors and classmate Lauren Giddings was found dead. It was June 26, 2011, when Stephen killed Lauren Giddings a Law School graduate.

The killing of Lauren Giddings created international news. At that time many interviewers were taking interviews with people who were in connection with Lauren Giddings and one was Stephen McDaniel. On 29th June Lauren Giddings’s sister, Kaitlyn Wheeler suspected that she has not received any call from her sister. So she visited her apartment. On reaching her apartment she found that Lauren is untraceable due to which she called the police. Police didn’t find any odd signs nor they found blood when they broke inside Lauren’s apartment.

Police then kept on investigating and a potent smell hit one investigating officer which helped in tracing Lauren dismembered body inside the trash can. Lauren was wrapped in a plastic sheet. However, her head, legs, and arms were not found in the trash can.

Later police found that the suspect is Stephen McDaniel. Police entered Stephen’s apartment to find clues. A master key of all the apartments was found inside Stephen’s house on behalf of which he was arrested.

In the beginning, Stephen shared a lie that he uses the master key to steal condoms from two of his neighboring apartments. But in further interrogation, he confessed that he killed Lauren.

Searching Stephen’s apartment police found packaging for a Hacksaw, several flash drives, and a pair of underwear. On that underwear, it was later discovered to have Giddings’ DNA on it.Inside the laundry room of the complex investigating team found a Hacksaw and a bloody sheet.This Hacksaw matched the packaging found in Stephen’s apartment.The blood was of Lauren on the bloody sheet.In April 2014 Stephen McDaniel’s trial was about to begin when he confessed that he killed and dismembered Lauren Giddings.

Stephen confessed that he broke into Lauren’s apartment using master keys. She was sleeping when she broke into her apartment. He then killed her by strangling her throat. He then put her body inside the bathroom. The next night after killing her he again entered his apartment with a Hacksaw and dismembered her body.

After Stephen’s McDaniel law trial he remains in prison for life. He was charged and found guilty on seven different counts which included counts of murder and sexual exploitation.

On July 12 2022 a video of Stephen getting interrogated by police officers was released on Law & Crime Network YouTube channel. This video was titled “The Killer That Wouldn’t Crack”. During this interrogation of two hours police found that Stephen McDaniel has not changed his body position.
