改宗ムスリムの人生（9）
アッサラームアレイクム！
Assalamualaikum!
よく「就職活動はどうしましたか？」という質問を頂きます。
I’ve often been asked the question, “what did you do for when job-hunting?”
ムスリム、特にムスリマはヒジャーブを着用しており、人々の考える「当たり前」と違うので日本で就職をすることは簡単なことではありません。
For a Muslim, especially Muslimah wearing a hijab, it’s not easy to find a job in Japan, because they are different from what is “normal” in people’s thinking.
私は就職先がすでに決まっていて、シャハーダをしたので、ムスリマとして就職活動を行いませんでした。
事前にヒジャーブで働ける、礼拝ができる会社を探していたわけではなかったのです。
Since I recited Shahaadah after I got my job, I didn’t go job-hunting as a Muslimah.
So, I didn’t find a company where I could wear a hijab and pray on time.
そのために働き始める際に、会社にムスリムであると伝えるべきか悩みました。
会社は日本人ムスリムとして私を雇ったわけではないので、どうするべきかわからなかったのです。
しかし、結果的に、事前にムスリムであると伝えておいてよかったです。
アルハムドリッラー。
Because of it, I was worried about whether I should tell them I was a Muslimah or not when I started to work there. Since my company didn’t hire me as a Japanese Muslimah, I didn’t know what I should do it. However, it was good to tell my company about me before I started to work.
理由は２つあります。
I have 2 reasons why.
１つ目の理由は、会社で崇拝行為（礼拝、断食など）を行う際に言わないよりは状況がより簡単になるからです。
礼拝場所を確保、断食への理解、金曜礼拝に参加可能、ハラール食の用意など様々な点でサポートを得られる可能性があります。
一つだけでもサポート体制があれば、ムスリムはありがたいですよね。
私の場合は、仲の良い同僚などがサポートをしてくれました。
礼拝場所がない私のために、会議室を確保してくれたり、断食中は配慮してくれたりとできる範囲で本当に協力してくれました。
The first reason is because it will make your situation easier than when you don’t tell them whilst you perform act of worships. It will give you the possibility of getting various support such as prayer rooms, understanding towards fasting, Friday prayer, Halal Food and so on. Even if you have only 1 support, it is very thankful as a Muslim, isn’t it? In my case, my close colleague supported me very much. They reserved meeting rooms for my prayers and they had consideration about my fasting.
２つ目の理由は、辞め時を決めやすいからです。
例えば、ムスリムだと伝えて全ての礼拝行為をしてもいいと言ってくださる企業だった場合、心配せずに長く勤めることができます。
逆に禁止された場合、なるべく早くその場を去り、新しい良い環境の職場を探すことができます。
働くことは大事ですが、快適に働ける場所はほかに選択があります。
しかし、私たちの信じるアッラーは唯一であり、他に代えることはできません。
The second reason is because you can decide when you want to quit it easily.
For example, if your company will allow you to perform all of your acts of worship during work time, you can work there for a long time.
On the contrary, if it won’t allow you to do it, you can leave there and find a new comfortable work place as soon as possible.
It’s very important to work, but you have other choices to find the places you can work comfortably.
But, Allah is the only one and you can NEVER replace Him to others.
私の会社は日系企業でしたが、社内には外国人も多く、私の他にもムスリムがいました。
しかし、特別に礼拝場所を借りることはできず、ヒジャーブは上司から着用許可がおりませんでした。
自分なりに努力をし、上司とも話し合い、アルハムドリッラー、入社時に比べ状況はよくなりました。
しかし、イスラーム を一番にしたかったので次の道を歩むことにしました。
My company was a Japanese one in which there were many foreign people and Muslims.
But, I couldn’t use the special places for prayers and my boss didn’t allow me to wear a hijab.
I did my best and I talked with my bosses.
So Alhamdulillah my situation became much better than when I started to work there.
However, I wanted to put Islam in first place, I decided to go to the next step.
ムスリムマイノリティーの国に住んでいる以上、ある程度思い通りに行かないことがあると思います。
しかし、「ムスリム」として譲れないところをきちんと考え、人に伝えていけるよう努力し続けてください。
また、難しい状況に立った時はイスティハーラの礼拝とアッラーへのドゥアーを是非忘れないでください。
アッラーが皆さんの人生を簡単にしてくださいますように。

As long as you live in Muslim minority countries, you will face situations where you can’t do what you want.
But please try to think what you can’t give up as a Muslim and do your best to tell people about it.
Then, please do remember to pray Istikhara and make du’a to Allah. May Allah ease your life always.
