Hokkaido travel recommendation
One of the most popular destinations of sightseeing in Japan is Hokkaido. There are so many delicious foods and great nature. This article shows some of my recommendations in the places I visited in this November.
Chapter1: Food
In Hokkaido, many kinds of food are produced such as diary and meat of sheep, but you cannot leave out seafood and ramen. In the seafood district in Sapporo called Jogai-Shijo(場外市場), you can eat fresh seafood like living squid. I ate some snails and salmon roe on rice, which are incredibly delicious.
Sapporo is also famous for ramen, especially miso-ramen. It uses miso to make soup, but the taste is completely different from miso soup. Miso-ramen was originated in Sapporo and the style of it is more sophisticated than any other one in other region. If you find “butter corn ramen” in a ramen restaurant, I recommend to try it. Hokkaido is main producing area of butter and corn and they bring different taste to miso-ramen.
Chapter2: Nature
The most beautiful spot in Hokkaido I have visited is Ochiishi cape in Nemuro city. Nemuro is easternmost city in Japan and you can enjoy pristine nature there. The cape is surrounded by high cliff, therefore you can see the ocean there. The route to the cape from the Ochiishi village is wooden a marsh in a forest. It is quiet and there are many deer.
In spite of the fantastic and beautiful scenery, It is less famous than Kushiro Marsh and Nosappu Cape which is easternmost cape in Japan. If you have chance to go to Hokkaido, I recommend you to visit Ochiichi.
