For this important contribution to cinema, Dadasaheb Phalke is called the "father of Indian cinema."In his career of 29 years, Dadasaheb Phalke made a total of 95 films and 26 short films. The year 1937 was his last film. It was also his first and last speaking film, although the film failed.
In 1944, he died like an anonymous man, while by then his initiated caravan had gone ahead and, due to the film world, some personalities had earned their big name and money.
