恩師へ。Dear my teacher.

私が高校生の時の美術の先生が定年退職されました。

先生には、在学中はもちろん卒業後もとてもお世話になりました。

卒業から13年経った今でも交流があります。

大学を卒業して間もない頃、先生からネクタイピンを作って欲しいと依頼された事もありました。

今回は、定年退職記念ということで私たち生徒から先生に贈るためのバングルを製作しました。

今の私の工房では本格的な鍛造はできないので、友人の工房で銀のインゴットを板状にするまでの作業をさせて頂きました。

ある程度の形になってからは、ローラーで伸ばして叩いてを繰り返しながら整形していきました。

バングルの形になったら、磨いて、内側にはレーザー刻印でメッセージを入れました。

表に彫る模様は、伝統的な和柄の麻柄にしました。

麻柄には、魔除けの意味があるので「長生きしてください」という気持ちを込めました。

これが、なかなか彫っても彫っても終わらなくて大変でしたが、満足のいくものが出来ました。

退職記念のお祝いの会で先生に渡したら、とても喜ばれてその場で着けてくださいました。

実は、バングルの寸法は私の勘で作ったのですが、サイズぴったりでした！！！

想像以上に喜んで頂けたのが、本当に嬉しかったです。

嬉しくて嬉しくて、最高に幸せでした。

お返しに先生が作った陶器を頂きました。

For this time, I made a bangle to give him a celebration of his retirement age.

I can not do full-scale forging in my current workshop. At the friend's studio I did the first work of forging.

When the silver lump became a plate, I shaped it using a rolling mill while stretching it.

When it became a bangle shape, polish it and put a message with laser engraving on the inside.

For the pattern on the table, I selected a traditional Japanese pattern hemp pattern.

Hemp patterns have the meaning of amulet. I put the feeling of "Please live longer."

However, it was very time consuming to carve hemp patterns. However, a wonderful thing was completed.

At the retirement celebration party, I gave the teacher a bangle. He was very pleased and quickly wore a bangle.

Actually, I made the dimensions of the bangle with intuition. But it was perfect size! ! !

He was more than pleased with my imagination. I was really happy.

I was extremely happy.

He gave us the pottery he made in return.
