新しいカタチ｜A New Shape

東京丸の内にある丸ビルの１階に電動バイクのお店がオープンした。スウェーデンで2016年に設立されたCAKE（ケイク）という会社のものだ。北欧だけにデザイン性あるバイクというくらいの認識だったけど、行ってみて驚いた。街乗り用のものはもちろんだけど、オフロードのバイクが人気だという。電動バイクのイメージは環境にいいとか、SDGsに貢献とか大人しい印象だったので、荒々しいオフロードによい違和感を感じた。それだけ馬力もあるということなんだろうけど、カタチでそれを表現するってわかりやすい。ぜひ試乗してみたいなぁ。（絵と文：サカキテツ朗）

An electric bike store has opened on the first floor of the Marunouchi Building in Tokyo. It is owned by a Swedish company called CAKE, established in 2016. I was only aware that the bikes were well designed in Scandinavia, but I was surprised when I went there. They say that off-road bikes are popular as well as those for city riding. I had the impression that electric bikes were environmentally friendly, contributing to the SDGs, and so I felt a sense of discomfort with the rugged off-road bikes. I guess that means they have more power, but it is easy to understand that they express it in a shape. I would love to test drive one. -Text and illustration by Ted Sakaki
