Club Officers Election and No. 453 English Hybrid Meeting
Date: From 2 P.M. to 4 P.M. on Saturday, May 13, 2023
In today’s regular meeting, we held a Club Officers Election, which resulted in the election of seven new candidates who will support our club in their new official capacities, starting this July, 2023 at the first half of the regular meeting and our regular English meeting in the second half of the meeting.
[Club Officers Election]
We hold the election once a year in May and elect seven officer candidates for the following positions:
1) President, the officer who of course represents our club, and…
2) Vice President of Education, the officer who manages the education program of our club, and…
3) Vice President of Membership, the officer who deals with guests who are interested in joining our club, and…
4) Vice President of Public Relations, the officer who updates our club’s website and posts meeting reports on the website, and…
5) Secretary, the officer who takes the minutes regarding regular meetings and updates rosters, and…
6) Treasurer, the officer who collects fees from all of us and makes payments for TMI, and last, but not least…
7) Sergeant at Arms, the officer who sets up venues in order for us to hold regular meetings.
At first, persons requested by the new candidates gave speeches about the new candidates to persuade the audience that their nominees were appropriate people for the positions.
After that, the nominees made speeches about their future hopes and plans as officers should they be accepted. Afterwards, everyone decided on the candidates by vote. Finally, we successfully elected seven new candidates in this meeting for the next TM term from July, 2023 to June, 2024.
[English Hybrid Meeting]
At the second half of the meeting, we had a short regular meeting compared with usual one because of Club Officers Election. Therefore, we omitted our Table Topic Section and limited the number of speakers with prepared speeches because of the time restriction.
[Prepared Speech Section]
There were two speakers with prepared speeches on the day, and the first speaker spoke about how physics is closely related in our lives, and through his effective gestures and easy-to-understand-explanations, we could easily grasp the content of his animated speech. After that, the second speaker developed his rhythmic speech, relating the words of Japanese using images and gestures.
[Best speakers on the day]
Evaluator: TM P.
Speaker: None (The two speakers chose not to have the audience vote on their speeches.)
