「明神池 」山口県萩市

世界最小の火山・笠山の火山活動による溶岩塊により地下で海とつながっている不思議な池。潮の満ち引きもあり、タイやイシダイなどが群れ泳ぎ、さながら水族館のよう。国の天然記念物に指定されています。池を泳ぐ魚たちは江戸時代に萩藩主により建立された厳島神社に漁民が豊漁を祈願して池に魚を放したのがルーツ。現在も厳島神社は池の魚を大切にしており、参拝者にむけて餌の販売をおこなっています。また江戸時代、この明神池の畔には藩主の茶室も設けられていたのでかっては「御茶屋の池」と呼ばれていたそうです。そのため、現在でも緑や磯の地形が美しく保存され日本庭園の趣をよく保持しています。池は大池、中の池、奥の池の３つに別れており、奥の池は神秘的な雰囲気。また厳島神社の御社殿の奥には珍しい風穴も。

❊魚に餌を与えるときは鳶やカラスそして猫も参戦してきますので注意して与えるようにして下さい。

A rare pond connected to the sea underground. There are also tides. Saltwater fish are swimming in the pond. The stone lanterns and stone bridges of Itsukushima Shrine built in the Edo period are landscaped as gardens. In fact, there was a tea room of the top of samurai Daimyo who ruled Hagi on the shore of this pond, so it was a place with a natural landscape as a garden. Fish food is sold at the shrine reception so you can feed the fish♪ and there are many kites and cats gathering to catch the fish food. If you throw bait into the sky, a group of kites will gather. Of course Japanese garden fans are also welcome. hahaha. There is a rare air hole in the back of the shrine and it is mysterious. A place where you can have a good time. There is only one complaint, and there is a drink vending machine in the middle of the shrine breaking the landscape.
