マルチタスク｜Multitasking

ツマの出張で夕方のルーティンワークはボク一人だった。3ヶ月のムスコを抱えて２歳のムスメのお迎え後、ムスコの沐浴。ムスコに乳液を塗っている間、ムスメが真似をしてワセリンまみれに。手を洗わせながら食事を作る。ムスメがお手伝いをしたがるので、意味のない洗い物をしてもらう。ムスメがご飯を食べ始めると、ムスコはミルクを要求。右手にスプーン、左手に哺乳瓶。次はムスメのお風呂。もっと遊びたいというムスメに10までと言って数を数えさせて、ムスコの寝かしつけ。スヤスヤしたところで今度はムスメの番。夜のルーティンワークが終わるまでのわずか３時間でぐったりだ。仕事ではマルチタスクが求められることも多い。一つのことにずっと集中するよりも同時にいろいろなプロジェクトがある方が楽しいなんて思っていたけれど、ゆるい仕事の仕方をしていたからかもしれない。（絵と文：サカキテツ朗）

I was the only one who could do the routine work in the evening due to my wife's business trip. I picked up my daughter with holding my son. While I was applying milky lotion to him, she imitated me and got covered in Vaseline and made meals while making her wash her hands. She wanted to help me and I asked her to wash the dishes for no reason. When she started to eat, he asked for milk. I held a spoon in my right hand and a bottle in my left. Next comes her bath. She wanted to play more, so I told her to count to ten, and then I put him down for bed. When he was asleep, it was her turn. I was exhausted in just three hours before I finished my nighttime routine. My work often requires me to multitask. I used to think it was more fun to have various projects going on at the same time than to focus on one thing all the time, but maybe that was because I had a lax work style. -Text and illustration by Ted Sakaki
