Elle marque un progrès irréversible de l'humanité sur ses peurs, ses angoisses, sa violence. A considérer cependant les exécutions pratiquées aux Etats-Unis, en Chine, en Iran et dans de nombreux autres pays, le combat contre la peine de mort est loin d'ètre achevé.
