品種よりも思い|Philosophy over Variety

今回の神さま食堂はワイン選びだった。ブラインドで5種類の赤ワインを飲み比べて、そのテイストを果物に例えたり、品種や生産地を当てるクイズをした。正答率はさんざんだったけれど、同じぶどうの品種でもまるで違うもののように感じる。あわせてどのような生産者なのかを想像してみる。こだわりの頑固職人?革新的なアイデアマン?心優しいジェントルパーソン?などなど。しかしどちらかというとこちらの方が想像と合致していたりする。ワインを品種や産地で選びがちだけど、実は生産者の方々の思いやキャラクターで選ぶ方がより好きなワインに出会えるかもしれない。(絵と文:サカキテツ朗)

This time's Kami-sama Diner was a wine selection. We compared five different red wines blind and took a quiz in which we compared the tastes of the wines to fruits and guessed the grape variety and region of production. Although my percentage of correct answers was not so good, the wines seemed to be different even though they were made from the same grape variety. I also tried to imagine what kind of producers they are. A stubborn craftsman? An innovative idea man? A kind-hearted gentleman? However, this is more in line with what I imagine. We tend to select wines by variety or region, but in fact, we may find wines we like better if we select wines based on the philosophy and character of the producers.-Text and illustration by Ted Sakaki
