花箱｜La Scatola Da Fiori

アルミの削り出し。制作は、美術家ドナルド・ジャッドの作品も手がけるBWB社。ふたを横へスライドさせると、ふたは斜めに迫り上がり優美な形状に姿を変える。そして、そこに発生する隙間に横向きに花を挿す。ふたは花の転倒防止という機能だけでなく、花を挿したときに、全体のボリュームのバランスを整え、花をより優雅に見せることを意図している。７つ並べると正方形になる。

Aluminium cutting products, made by the Swiss company BWB, who also made items for the artist Donald Judd. I tried to design a simple but elegant box for a single flower. When it’s closed the box is very simple, but after opening the box changes form. The cover slides on a curving track and has some angle. This cover not only preserves the flower, but also presents the flower in a more elegant way, regarding to keep a balance. 7 boxes together form a square. The design was inspired by Japanese chopstick cases.
