The last time popular central Queensland jockey Ashley Butler won The Archer he was king hit by a sickening coward punch in a nightclub only hours later and flown to Brisbane for emergency surgery to a horribly broken jaw.
Two years later, he quipped he was planning to stay at home and have a quiet one after he again scored the $775,000 Rockhampton slot race.
Butler was the king of Rockhampton after making away with the rich regional slot race for the second time, leading his rivals a merry dance with a bold frontrunning display on Ricky Vale-trained local galloper Namazu.
