The gilded 18th century estate that moved the French-Swiss border

Geneva-based interior designer Alexandra de Garidel loves a challenge. “I say ‘yes’ to commissions that others refuse,” she says. “I’m never afraid of anything.” In the past, she has most notably been put to the test with some extremely tight schedules.

She recalls one project that involved the complete overhaul of two houses totalling 1800 square metres on a wine property near Cape Town, South Africa. She had just eight months to finish it – from a distance of nearly 9000 kilometres.
