水曜ワークショップ👀 5/6 2026

今日の英会話セッションでは、参加者それぞれの体験や思い出、最近興味を持っていることについて、温かい雰囲気の中で会話を楽しみました。

Nさんは、最近参加した昆虫展について話してくださり、美しい緑色の幼虫を見つけたことを紹介してくれました。そこから「metamorphosis（変態）」という単語の話題にもつながり、「幼虫が孵化する」は英語で“The caterpillar hatched from the egg.”と言うこともみんなで学びました。

Mさんは、氷川神社の近くを散歩した時に見た大きな緑の木々の美しさについて話してくださいました。また、香りから昔の記憶がよみがえる体験についても共有し、美容院で選んだラベンダーの香りや、以前レストランで感じた印象的な甘い香りの思い出を語ってくれました。

Hさんは、山口県に住む親戚のお米販売サイトを制作している話をしてくださり、独学でウェブ制作を学ぶ難しさについても触れていました。また、考え事をしている時にシャープペンシルやボールペンを触る癖があるという、微笑ましいエピソードもありました。さらに、AIを使った英語学習についても話題になり、英検1級レベルの問題や英文法の説明がとても役立っていると話してくださいました。

途中から参加したM2さんは、来月予定している韓国旅行について話してくれました。韓国語と日本語の文法がとても似ていることや、アメリカの大学進学を目指して努力していることなど、自分らしい進路についても共有してくれました。

そのほかにも、心が落ち着く香り、好きな音楽、思い出に残る場所、つい話したくなる食べ物、リラックスできるものなど、さまざまなテーマについて会話が広がりました。

特に、Mさんが紹介してくれた竹内まりやさんの「人生の扉」は、多くの参加者の共感を呼び、音楽の話でも盛り上がりました。

今日も、英語を学ぶだけでなく、お互いの人生や思い出を共有しながら、豊かな時間を過ごすことができました。

Today’s English conversation session was full of personal stories, discoveries, and warm exchanges.

N shared that he had recently been involved in an insect exhibition and talked about finding a beautiful green caterpillar. This naturally led to a discussion about “metamorphosis,” and we also learned how to say 幼虫が孵化する in English:“The caterpillar hatched from the egg.”

M talked about her peaceful walks near Hikawa Shrine and the beautiful green trees she enjoys seeing there. She also shared how certain scents can bring back memories, including lavender at a beauty salon and an unforgettable sweet smell she once experienced at a restaurant.

H spoke about building a website for his relative’s rice business in Yamaguchi and the challenges of learning web design by himself. He also shared a funny habit of clicking mechanical pencils and pens while thinking deeply about ideas. Later, he mentioned how useful AI has been for studying difficult English grammar and Eiken Grade 1 questions.

M2 joined later and shared her plans to visit Korea soon. We discussed similarities between Japanese and Korean grammar, and she also talked about preparing for admission to a US university, which makes her path quite different from many of her classmates.

The session also included many relaxing and nostalgic topics:comforting smells, favorite songs, relaxing objects, memorable places, and foods we enjoy talking about. One highlight was M introducing the song “Jinsei no Tobira” by Maria Takeuchi, which many participants appreciated together.

As always, today’s session reminded us how language learning becomes richer through personal memories, curiosity, and shared experiences.
