Meeting on a Rainy Day, Learning Different Perspectives / 雨の日の例会とそれぞれの視点

Chofu Freeflight Toastmasters Club held its 387th regular meeting on June 27th. Despite the typhoon forecast, three members gathered at the venue and four joined online. 

During the Table Topics (impromptu speech) session hosted by TM K, timely topics such as "typhoons" and "rain" brought out the unique personalities and personal stories of each member. Among them, TM S, who spoke positively about "how to enjoy a rainy day," won the Best Table Topic Award. 

In the second half, the prepared speech session kicked off with TM S, who recently returned to teaching in Japan this March after teaching Japanese in the Philippines. TM S delivered an insightful, extended speech of over 13 minutes titled "Where Japanese Education Stands, as Seen from the Philippines." 

Following that, veteran member TM Y challenged himself with an English speech on the benefits and challenges of the Furusato Nozei (hometown tax donation) system. 

Although it was raining outside, it was a rewarding meeting filled with valuable insights from each speech. 

Our next meeting will be held on Saturday, July 11th, from 14:00 to 16:00, both at Chofu City Culture Hall "Tazukuri" Room 1103 and online.

調布フリーフライトトーストマスターズは6月27日、第387例会を開催、台風の予報の中、会場に３人、オンライン４人で集まりました。 

TM Kによるテーブルトピックスピーチ（即興スピーチ）セッションでは、「台風」や「雨」といったタイムリーなお題に、メンバーそれぞれの人生のドラマや個性が垣間見える時間に。なかでも「雨の日だからこそ楽しめること」をポジティブに語ったTM Sが、見事ベストテーブルトピック賞を獲得しました。 

後半の準備スピーチセッションではまず、フィリピンで日本語を教え3月から日本の教壇に復帰されたTM Sが「フィリピンから見えた日本の教育の現在地」というテーマで13分超のじっくりとしたスピーチを行いました。ベテランのTM Yはふるさと納税の楽しみと問題点について英語スピーチにチャレンジしました。 

外は雨でしたが、それぞれのスピーチから多くの気づきを得られる、非常に充実した例会となりました。 

次回の例会は、7月11日（土）14：00−16：00、調布市民文化会館たづくり1103室とオンラインで開催します。
