make earth current in project leve

2026.07.29 10:54

To understand what earth current is and how electricity flows safely into the ground.

Materials

1 LED bulb

1 resistor (220Ω)

9V battery

Connecting wires

Copper wire

Iron nail (to act as an earth rod)

Wet soil in a plastic pot

Procedure

Fill a plastic pot with wet soil.

Insert the iron nail into the soil.

Connect one wire from the battery to the LED through the resistor.

Connect the other wire to the iron nail.

Observe whether the circuit works.

Compare the result with and without the earth connection.

Observation

The earth provides a path for electrical current under certain conditions.

Proper earthing helps prevent electric shock and protects electrical equipment.

Conclusion

Earthing is an important safety system. It directs unwanted electrical current into the ground, reducing the risk of electric shock and protecting electrical devices.

Safety Precautions

Use only a low-voltage battery (9V).

Never use household mains electricity (110V/230V) for this project.

Keep your hands dry while making electrical connections.

This project is suitable for Class 6–10 scienc
