Ryne‑Arca #1 — The Origins of the Project

2026.08.06 07:33

Hello everyone!

I’m Asuka, a solo developer working on Ryne‑Arca.

Since this is the first official entry in the series, I’d like to talk about the early origins of the project.

■ Mitra to Poluk

In fact, Ryne‑Arca is almost entirely a remake of a previous game I was developing called “Mitra to Poluk.”

[Mitra]

The story began when Mitra, the protagonist, rescued a white bear named Poluk from danger in the forest.

Grateful—and a little lovestruck—Poluk decided to follow Mitra on her journey, completely uninvited.

As the two traveled together, Mitra kept wondering how she could gently leave Poluk behind… yet over time, he became a true companion.

One day, Mitra’s older sister appeared and told her:

“Your time is running out. You must choose—pursue your true purpose, or stay with Poluk.”

Remembering her original mission, Mitra left a letter for Poluk and quietly departed.

“From Mitra to Poluk.”

After reading the letter, Poluk gathered allies and set out to chase after her.

This was the core story of Mitra to Poluk, the predecessor to Ryne‑Arca.

The atmosphere and worldbuilding of both projects are actually quite similar.

■ Why the Project Evolved into Ryne‑Arca

The biggest issue with the original concept was the high level of character exposure.

While this wouldn’t be a problem in Japan, I had already decided that the main market would be the English‑speaking world.

To meet the standards of various countries, I felt it was necessary to rebuild the project from the ground up.

As you can see from the reference image, the sword used by Vitta—the protagonist of Ryne‑Arca—is actually the same sword Mitra used in the original project.

I hope this little behind‑the‑scenes story gave you something interesting to discover.

Ryne‑Arca is now in its final polishing stage, so major updates are rare, but your continued support truly keeps me going.

Thank you — and welcome to the journey.
