The Empress’ New Clothes

Many years ago there lived a girl who loved beautiful new clothes so much that she spent all her money on being finely dressed. Her only interest was in going to town where she could show off her new clothes.

One day a swindler approached her. He said that he was a celebrated fashion designer, claiming that he knew how to make the finest cloth imaginable. Not only were the colors and the patterns extraordinarily beautiful, but in addition, this material had the amazing property that it was to be invisible to anyone who was unusually stupid.

"It would be wonderful to have clothes made from that cloth," thought the girl. So she immediately ask the swindler to prepare clothes for her. 

The swindler started immediately. "Would you kindly remove your clothes." said the swindler. "Then I will fit you with the new ones."

The girl took off all her clothes, and the swindler pretended to dress her, piece by piece, with the new ones that were to be fitted. 

When the swindler completed, she was so excited and decided to go out to show off her new clothes immediately.
