比叡山、高野山とともに日本三大霊場に数えられ、周囲を蓮華八華に例えられる8つの外輪山に囲まれた宇曽利山湖がある。7月に恐山大祭、10月上旬には恐山秋詣りが行われ、本堂脇のテントでイタコの口寄せが行われる。
Mt. Osore (Mutsu City)
Osorezan is one of the three major holy sites in Japan and Lake Usori is surrounded with eight sommas. The Osorezan Grand Festival is held in July and an autumn pilgrimage to Osorezan is made at the beginning of October.
