My recruiter did the same to me. He told me i failed the drug test... asking if i ever smoked marijuana. I was like no sir, never ever in my life. My dad was there in 1961 class 125 he was in wooden housing he remebers corp reailly he was tough but learned alot from him if you there like to here from you thanks 610 462 9452. I was there in 1961 from May through July of that year. My drill instructors were: SSgt. Mahoney, Sgt. Joiner, and Sgt. Young. I was beaten daily by SSgt. Mahoney. Sometimes he put a leather glove on and would punch me in the stomach. Other times, he would make me hang from the steam pipes until I couldn't hold on any longer. Then he would make me do 50 push-ups. He singled me out as an example, because of my independent attitude. I wish I could remember more about my platoon at that time. I did end up in Vietnam, and survived being wounded at Monkey Mountain landing. I recall that during my time at Paris Island, some of the new recruits committed suicide because they couldn't handle the physical abuse by DI's. In the year that I graduated, I also recall that there was a major investigation by Washington Senators, into physical and psychological torture and abuse of recruits by some of the war-hardened Marine DI's. That year marked the end of such abuse that had been going on since WWII at Paris Island. Anyone who recalls being there when I was there, please contact me by e-mail. JGcobalt.
Im going in june 2014. Weed is good for your soul. Dang, a bunch of the those recruits in the beginning were pretty chubby.
