 I wander'd lonely as a cloud.

That floats on high o'er vales and hills.

When all at once I saw a crowd,

A host, of golden daffodils;

Beside the lake, beneath the trees,

Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars taht shine

And twinkle on the Milky Way,

They stretch'd in never-ending line

Along the margin of a bay:

Ten thousand saw I at a glance,

Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced, but they

out-did the sparkling waves in glee:

A poet could not but be gay,

in such a jocund company:

I gazed-and gazed-but little thought

what wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie

in vacant or in pensive mood,

They flash upon that inward eye

which is the bliss of solitude;

And then my heart with pleasure fills,

And dances with the daffodills.

一人孤独に、彷徨っていた。

谷や丘の空高く、漂う雲のように。

黄金色の、水仙の群れが、ふと、目に入った時；

湖のほとり、木のふもと、

水仙は、風に吹かれ、はためき、踊る。

天の川の、キラキラと輝く星のように、絶え間なく

終わりなき列を成し、入江に沿って、どこまでも続いていた。

一目だけでも万の群生

陽気に踊り、花びらは揺れる

隣では、さざ波が踊っている。

水仙のそれは、歓喜に揺れるさざ波に勝る。

そのような、輝く事物の前で

詩人とは、胸高鳴る以外の、何者でもない。

私は、少しの思考と共に、目を凝らして、凝らして、見る。

この情景は、どのような富を私にもたらしてくれるのか。

虚ろ気に、物思いにふける時、

長椅子に横たわると、しばしば、

瞳の内側に瞬くものがある。

それは、孤独である事の無常の喜び；

心は喜びに満ち溢れ、

あの水仙たちと、踊るのだ。
