初めてのスキー

事情を知らない者は時々、恐怖心なく行動する。

私がスキーを始めて体験したのは新入社員の時ですが、そのスキーで思いもよらぬことを体験したのでした。

女性社員：スキーはとても爽快よ。ストレスの解消、気分転換にはとてもいいわよ。

女性社員：そうよ。 そうよ。 冬景色はきれいだし、温泉は気持ちが良いわよ。

私： でも、私は初めてだし、皆さんみたいに上手に滑れないから。

女性社員：皆で教えてあげるから、大丈夫よ。

男性社員： 誰でも最初から上手な人はいないよ。

皆でスキーでワイワイやるのも、社内融和のためにもいいんだよ。

ぜひ、行こうよ。

私： 分かりました。

皆に強く誘われ、私は期待と不安な気持ちで、会社の寮が在る妙高高原・赤倉スキー場に行きました。

最初の日はあいにく、少し吹雪いていました。

寮からチャンピオンコース・スキー場に滑って、行くことになりました。

私は初めてでも、平坦な道なので皆についていくことができました。

スキー場のゲレンデについて、皆で足慣らしをすることになりました。

私はゲレンデに張ったロープを使いながら、直滑降のためのボーゲンの練習をしました。 慣れないので、すぐに足が痛くなってしまいました。

ところが、しばらくすると、皆でリフトに乗って、上に行こうということになりました。

最初のリフトを上がった所から、下に滑り始めると思っていたのですが、皆は黙ってどんどん、次の上のリフトで上がっていきます。 仕方なく、私もついて行ったのですが、

更に何段も上のリフトで上がっていくのです。 上がるにしたがって、雪は更に降ってくるし、あたりはモヤなのか、よく見えなくなってくるし、私の気持ちは穏やかではありませんでした。

とうとう、山の頂上に着いてしまいました。

皆はリフトから降りて、すぐに頂上から滑っていきました。 そして、しばらく行った所でクリスチャニアでターンして、後の人を待っているのでした。

私は当然、一番最後でした。

ターンする予定の先はどうなっているのか、モヤか何かで分かりません。何も見えないのです。 私はスタートをためらいました。

女性： どうしたの？ 滑らないの？

自信がなければ今、来たリフトで帰ってもいいわよ。

私は自分一人で、さびしく下りのリフトで帰るなんて、みっともなくて出来ないと思いました。

私： 今、行きます。

私は意を決して、直滑降をボーゲンで恐る恐る滑り始めました。 ところが、急坂なので勢いがついてエッジがきかないのです。 スピードが緩まるどころか、加速してしまうのでした。。

キャーと言う声が女性達の間から聞こえました。 ターンするべき所がまじかに迫ってきました。 私はとっさに無理に転んでストップしようとしました。 しかし、惰性ですぐには止まりませんでした。でも、何とか踏みとどまることが出来ました。 そして、立ち上がって、ターンし、皆の所に追いついたのでした。

女性： あの先は断崖絶壁の崖になっているのよ。

あのまま直滑降で止まらなかったら、崖から突っ込んでいたわよ。

女性： そうしたら、命はなかったわよ。 恐かった。

でも、止まって、本当によかったわ。

やれやれということで、皆で又、スタートしました。 皆も待っていてくれますが、追いつくと、すぐにスタートしますので、私は休まる暇がありませんでした。

帰りはゆるやかな道でした。 会社の寮も、もうじきという所で、どうしたことか前の女性が道を踏み外し、するすると道沿いの川に入ってしまいそうになりました。 私はアッと驚きましたが、スキーは止まりません。

女性は川の中に突っ込んでしまったのです。 私は助けるべく、とっさに後を追い、川の中に突っ込んで行きました。 二人とも、川の水でびっしょりになってしまいました。

幸いにも、浅瀬だったので怪我はありませんでした。

寒いので、皆で寮に走るようにスキーで急ぎました。

寮に帰るとすぐに寮の温泉に入りました。 風呂場は大浴場なのですが、男湯と女湯に別れている境の敷居の上からは隣の声が聞こえてくるのでした。

女性：川に入った時のあの新入社員の慌てぶりってなかったわね。

女性：そうね。 でも、やさしいのね。

次の日は昨日とはまるで違う快晴でした。 空は青く、白い雪が太陽に反射して、とてもまぶしかったのでした。

リフトで上がるときに女性達はハンカチで顔を隠しました。 太陽の光りがきついので、日焼けを防ぐ為に、そうしたのでした。

しかし、一群の女性たちがハンカチで顔を隠し、リフトを上がる光景は、まるで女盗賊の集団のようでした。

男性：素顔のままより、そのままハンカチをとらない方がいいんじゃないの。

女性：失礼ね。

女性たちは一斉に答えました。

又、昨日の頂上に着きました。 頂上からははるか向こうの山々がはっきり見えました。

山からのパノラマの美しさはとても、きれいでした。 来て、よかったと本当に思いました。

ところが、いざ、滑り出そうとして、驚きました。 行く先の崖がはっきり見えるのです。

何と、私は昨日、ぎりぎりの所で止まったことが分かったのでした。

今度は恐る恐る、崖のはるか手前でターンしたのでした。

First skiing

One man who don’t know detail circumstances, acts without terror.

It is first time when I was a fresh man of a company, to do skiing.

A that time, I had unexpected experiences.

Woman: the skiing is very refreshing. It is good for stress , recreation.

Woman: That’s right. Winter sight is beautiful and hot spring is good for the health.

I: But this is first time for me. I am not good at the skiing.

Woman: we would like to teach how to ski for you.

Man: There is no man who is good at skiing from first time.

It is good for company’s group to ski and play together.

Let’s join with us.

I: I see.

I was strongly invited by members of the company. I went to ski.

In first day, it was stormy. We went to ski place on skiing.

As the road was plain, I can follow other members.

We made our foot accustomed to in Gelande.

I practiced Bogen for downhill run using a lope of Gelande.

I had footache soon. After a while, they decided to go to up using lift .

I thought they would start to ski in a first place of the lift.

But they went to up on and on silently. Unwillingly, I followed.

As we went to up, it is snowing more and more. I can’t see the surroundings clearly

by mist. My heart isn’t easy. At last, we reached on the mountain.

They got down from the list and start to ski immediately.

They returned at the corner by christiania and waited. Of course, I was last.

What is it in front of the corner ? I didn’t know by the mist. I couldn’t anything.

I hesitated to start.

Woman: what’s matter with you ? Don’t you ski ?

If you have not confidence, you may come back by lift.

I thought I would not come back only one, because it is shameful.

I: I will go.

I decided to go and start to ski down hill by Bogen.

But the edge wasn’t no use as it’s slope was steep.

I could not control speed. The speed was accelerated more and more.

I heard women screamed. I approached the corner to return.

I decided to stop by tumbling down at ounce. But I could not stop immediately

by inertia. Even thought, at last, I could stop after that.

I stood up , turned and reached them.

Woman: the front of the place was a precipitous cliff.

If you couldn’t stop, you would have entered in the cliff.

Woman: If you had entered in the cliff, you would have lose your life.

But you stopped. It’s good really.

We restarted again. They waited for me as I was late. But when I reached them, they started immediately. So, I could not rest.

Returning road was soft slope. Where we were going to near company’s house, a lady

in front of me run outside of the road. She was going to a river. She wanted to stop.

But she could not. At last, she went down the river.

I went down the river to help her at ounce. She and I got wet fully in the river.

As the river was shallow, we were not injured. We were so cold that we hurried up.

As soon as we reached a house, we took a bath. The bath place was big and was separated for man and woman. But I could heard their voices over the wall..

Woman: Wasn’t he very confused, when you entered a river?

Woman: Yes, he was. But, he is gentle.

Next day was fine. Sky was blue and white snow was reflected by the shine of the sun.

When women rode a lift, they covered their faces with their handkerchief.

They did so to protect their faces, as right of the sun was hard.

But their sight were like a group of robber.

Man: you had better cover your faces than you take off your handkerchief.

Women : You are impoliteness.

Women answered with one voice.

We reached on the same summit of yesterday. We could see clearly many mountains over there from the summit. Panorama of mountains were very beautiful. I thought I was happy to see them.

But I was very astonished when I want to start. I could see the cliff clearly.

I understood I stopped just in front of the cliff yesterday.

This time, I turned far from the cliff.
