February 3rd is the day of Setsubun.Setsubun refers to the day before the beginning of each season

(the first days of spring, summer, fall and winter).It is believed that *oni come when the seasons change in Japan.

*Oni: a devil-like creature from Japanese folklore.

To get rid of the oni, people scatter roasted soy beans both inside and outside of their houses.

今年も”福は内！鬼は外！”の節分行事から始まりました。

節分は、季節の分れ目という意味があり、この時期は「邪気」が入りやすいため、邪気払いの行事として大昔から行われているようです。

大きな青鬼さん、赤鬼さんをみて、少し怖くなって先生の後ろに隠れてしまう児童や、果敢に立ち向かう児童、一生懸命豆で追い払おうとする姿が見受けられました。
