Clint Eastwood has done it again. He has made another awesome film. My god this was good. I was excited for it but like man it blew my expectations away. The story was just so beautifully executed and written. The acting was superb. Let me just get this out of the way and just that Paul Walter Houser did an AMAZING job with this character. Every scene he acted almost made me shed a tear. There was one scene in particular that gets into the spoiler range but in this scene, he's sitting at a table and he starts crying while he's eating a donut, I literally couldn't take the smile off my face while watching this scene. This movie isn't just a hero film. It's also a friendship film. "How far will friends go to help other friends." This was definitely one of 2019s most underrated films. Soooo good.
Richard Jewell was done wrong so severely that it makes you think about things. He believed in the American way and was a simple man trying to do right. The media frenzy around him was not only unjust but disturbing in that until his Atty got involved the media did not want to own up to their mistakes. Richard's atty did bring justice to Richard and even after he passed away helped bring his story to a successful conclusion. FBI long history of criminal activity wouldnt belive anything they say American gestapo.

For a suspect I believe that there barely was a case in history in wich cooperating with them helped to exanerate the suspect. if and all talking can and will result in a suspect telling lies even if he did not want to tell a lie, or making mistakes and the saying everything you say can and will be hold against you in a court of law is exactly what will happen... you lie or tell something the wrong way, even by mistake your credibility is gone. and if that wasn´t enough, they will use a lot of pressuring tactics to make you say things and even confess to something you did not even do. Oh and by the way, there is NO: everything yoou say can and will be used FOR you in a court of law. So you telling them stuff that could help solve the case but is exanerating you will only help you if they have another suspect and before that happens... so they would keep quiet about that sort of thing.

I thought that name rung a bell. Most people like myself had forgotten about him. Anyone under the age of 30 might not remember the Centennial Olympic bombing in Atlanta back in 96. And yet, people still believe the media. Who cares whether she slept with some guy or not? The only thing she had to be ashamed about was ruining an innocent man's life and she was undisputedly guilty of that. Kathy Scruggs, reporter for AJC writes the article Richard Jewell MAY be the bomber for which AJC never settled their lawsuit. Now AJC is worried that the movie shows Kathy Scruggs MAY have slept around with cops for inside info(including FBI. Now that's karma.

I don't remember how the story ends either but one way or another this film seems great. Let's hope it will be. ALSO : How DARE you Jay ! The winter Olympics are WAY better. And yes, I am Canadian.

Even after acting in the movie and knowing the back story, these actors are still protecting the powers that made this tragic. The evil that led the FBI and the media is what they are protecting. Make no mistake, you are making this political. How about we start by letting Mr. Eastwood speak for himself and you speak the liberal stance you've been brainwashed into thinking.
This is one of the most powerful films I have ever seen. The performances by Hauser and Rockwell are as good as any you are likely to see. And Clint tells the story directly and simply. But because of the Scruggs issue, Golden Globes has already snubbed this film, and the oscars may do so as well.
As for Scruggs, when the brouhaha first started up about this portrayal, before it got really intense, I did a lot of searching on this person, her life and her death, and I found sources that were people who worked with her at the newspaper. Their comments tend to corroborate the behaviors you see in this film. While no one that I read claimed that she slept with an FBI agent, there were people who said she "dated" police officers in Atlanta in order to stay close to breaking police beat news stories. She was a smoking, boozing, loud, vulgar and obnoxious broad whose ambition was to get the big scoop.
Now there are also people saying that, now being dead, she cannot defend herself. However, she lived a few years after the Jewell debacle was over, and she had plenty of time to defend herself. All she did was keep saying that she reported the facts. One source lists her cause of death as an opiod overdose; whether accidental or deliberate is unknown.
Don't let this issue keep you from seeing this great film.
