夢見るような淡い色彩に浮かぶ動物たちの姿。

絵を描いているのはナニー・ホグロギアン。アメリカの絵本作家ですね。

日本でも多くの本がj翻訳されているので、ご存じの方も多いと思います。「きょうはよいてんき」ではコールデコット賞も受賞しています。

本作は未翻訳の作品「The Three Sparrows」です。

子どものための詩の絵本というと、なんだか少し背筋が伸びてしまう気がするのですが、こちらはクリスティアン・モルゲンシュテルンの詩です。マザーグースのような言葉遊びの詩と言うとわかりやすいでしょうか。

動物たちのこと、自然のこと、子どもの遊びのこと。

耳と口に気持ちのいいリフレインが、ホグロギアンの優しい絵の中に溶けていくようです。

その中でも、無邪気で素朴で、美しい詩を一つ引用します。
