Not sure if I'm like :DDDDDD or more like WTFFFFF. Le conte dela princesse kaguya song. I think Hisaishi really outdid himself with Kaguyahime, its very different than all his work for Miyazaki's. Le conte de la princesse kaguya ecriture. Much was made of animation legend Hayao Miyazakis decision to retire last year, but a new movie out today from his Studio Ghibli comes from the mind of no less great a talent. The Tale of the Princess Kaguya was directed by 78-year-old Isao Takahata, a co-founder of the studio, and you wont see a lusher, more gorgeous movie in 2014. Princess Kaguya is based on a 10th-century Japanese folk story called The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter, which tells of a poor couple that discover a mystical girl in a forest and take it upon themselves to raise her as a princess. Takahata takes this narrative and runs with it, exploring the transient nature of life, the shallowness of wealth and materialism, and the absurdity of societal roles along the way. But Princess Kaguya s plot is a simple one at first — most viewers will be more immediately grabbed by the astonishing art style. Princess Kaguya is like an old Japanese painting come to life. The fluid animation is drawn in minimalist, evocative watercolors with charcoal strokes that reminded me a little of the Raymond Briggs adaptation  The Snowman. A core theme of the film — how a simple life spent among nature can offer more happiness than urbanity and purported social progression — is one shared by other Ghibli works, but the painterly style helps make a more convincing case here. In one amazing scene, the princess Kaguyas angry fantasies of escaping an oppressive environment are shown in dizzying, coarse scrawls as the character takes flight. The innovative artwork is typical of Takahatas Studio Ghibli filmography, which has often reset expectations of what anime can look like. 1999 comedy My Neighbors the Yamadas, for example, wrings expressive, relatable characters out of crude sketches that portray family life. And a personal favorite, 1991s Only Yesterday, is rendered in two separate styles. The present day events feature vibrant colors and realistic animation, with the muscles in characters faces visibly shifting between emotions. The childhood memories of the protagonist, Taeko, on the other hand, take on a style more like conventional kids animation, only with washed-out colors and unfinished backgrounds that emphasize the fuzzy nature of recollections. As Taeko matures in the past, her memories are gradually drawn in a style closer to the present. Princess Kaguya s art and source material make it one of the most conspicuously Japanese films that Studio Ghibli has ever put out. But for its US release, the voice cast includes American actors like Chloë Grace Moretz, James Caan, and Lucy Liu. While Ghibli films often feature respectable English dubbing, I havent had a chance to see that version for myself. I do feel, though, that if theres any Ghibli film that would work better in Japanese with subtitles — no matter your personal preference — its probably this one. Princess Kaguya s straightforward plot perhaps doesnt quite justify its two hours and 17 minutes running time, and viewers unfamiliar with the original story might be thrown sideways by a cosmic twist in the third act. The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter is often described as proto-science fiction, making Princess Kaguya more than your average Japanese folk tale. And despite some strong scenes, I didnt find it quite as moving or emotional overall as some of Takahatas best work, which often has the power to massage your heart and punch you in the gut all at once. But I never felt that Princess Kaguya dragged — even at its slowest, the film is never less than stunning, and its hard not to be swept away by its charms. Before it got delayed, Princess Kaguya was meant to see release alongside Miyazakis swansong The Wind Rises as a double feature last year. Ghibli also did this back in 1988, when Miyazakis My Neighbor Totoro — one of the best-loved, most adorable Japanese movies of all time — shared the billing with Takahatas Grave of the Fireflies, a harrowing, powerful tale of two children clutching onto survival after their city is firebombed near the end of World War II. That Takahatas work is often held up next to Miyazakis, despite drastic divergences in style and tone, is testament to the diversity of Ghiblis work and the talent of its two biggest names. The Tale of the Princess Kaguya might be the last chance to see a new Takahata film as it comes out in cinemas; I would say its a chance not to be missed. The Tale of the Princess Kaguya opens today, October 17th.

Princess Kaguya embraces Sutemaru whilst flying in the air Miyatsuko swears to protect Kaguya and begins assembling defensive forces. Kaguya returns to her hometown in the mountains once more. She finds Sutemaru and tells him she would have been happiest with him; Sutemaru vows to protect her, and they fly through the air together. When the Moon shines upon Kaguya, she begs Sutemaru to hold her tightly. Despite Sutemaru 's best efforts, Kaguya is torn from his grasp out of the sky. He awakens alone in a field, and convinced that it had been a dream, returns to his wife and child. On the night of the full moon, a procession of celestial beings descends from the Moon, and Miyatsuko is unable to stop it. An attendant offers Kaguya a robe that will erase her memories of Earth. Kaguya begs the attendant to grant her a last moment with her parents. Celestial Beings The attendant assures her that upon returning to the Moon, she will be free of Earth's impurities. Kaguya rebuffs her, saying that Earth is full of wonder and life. The attendant then drapes the robe around Kaguya, and she appears to forget about her life on Earth. The procession ascends to the Moon, leaving Miyatsuko and his wife distraught, as Kaguya looks back one last time with tears in her eyes. Le conte de la princesse kaguya chanson japonais.

Isao Takahata's The Tale of Princess Kaguya is a beautifully crafted epic. The animation, atypical of the style of Ghibli-style blockbuster we've come to expect and love in the UK, is delicate and beautiful. It is of no surprise that this melancholic triumph received an Oscar nomination for best animated film this year.

Based on 10th Century Japanese folklore, it follows the life of a humble bamboo cutter who stumbles upon a glowing stalk, a tiny, hand-sized girl growing within. Returning home to his wife with excitement, the child rapidly transforms from baby, to toddler, to infant in a beautifully animated transition. Though the genuine film can be seen with subtitles, the dubbed version stars a formidable cast of Chloë Grace Moretz, Darren Criss, James Caan and Lucy Lui that compliments the animation impeccably. It's then down to personal preference as to which you'd rather experience.

The tale beautifully and poignantly manifests itself as a parable-like journey, staying relatively true to its historical and mystical routes. The story follows the family as the bamboo cutter moves them to the city in order to fulfil Kaguya's destiny of becoming a princess. Though it is never clear as to how or why the father made the connection between his adoptive child and her future of royalty, the film rifles on and allows the little plot indiscretions to go largely unquestioned. The balance between humour and solemnity helps the narrative flow whilst making you feel real empathy for Kaguya and her situation. Whimsical moments deliver in captivating you entirely.

The film also injects sorrow, particularly as the princess struggles with her new life away from the farm, friends and freedom she grew up with. And While her life moves on, the film develops upon these points before flowing lovingly into a situation in which the Princess sends five potential love interests on a mission to find for her an unobtainable gift. The new development, in which Kaguya finally embraces her power, is charming and brilliant!

Animated entirely from the modern innovation of ink and watercolour, the definition in the penmanship drives the tone of the film. In moments of calm the pen marks curve delicately, whilst in times of trouble ink is sharp, aggressive and unfinished. The effect adds peace and rigour respectively, another layer to enhance the story. The Tale of Princess Kaguya is a welcome departure from this over-saturated CGI market that, whilst great in its own mediums, has detracted from the flare of ink based animation. Here Isao Takahata reminds us that it is still a daring art form that can craft glorious movies such as this.

The entire film is held together exquisitely by another Joe Hisaishi masterclass. The stirring soundtrack adding beauty, elegance and hope to an already sublime film. The concluding piece of music is harrowing, yet delightful in the ultimate juxtaposition of image and sound. The score alone will have you scurrying home and downloading it just to hear it again.

The Tale of Princess Kaguya is surprising and captivating, a true victory of imagination. With folklore at it's heart it airs on ridiculous, but remains grounded enough to thrill. The story is simple enough, but ends with a profound message.
