Definitiv das neue „in my mind“ - einfach ein absoluter Ohrwurm.
The star movie characters.
People are voting too low and criticize too much. This is just an animation, targets children and families the most. Storyline is clear, characters are funny, CGI artworks are beautiful, and I like all their songs. The songs are classic and beautiful. The movie taking the side of the animal, nothing too much about Jesus, it is not a religious topic movie, just a normal cartoon.
I went to watch the movie alone because the trailer was interesting and I have nothing to do on Saturday. The movie was even better than my anticipated.

We think this movie stands out for: A lot or a little? The parents' guide to what's in this movie. Introduces the basic elements of the biblical Nativity story. Positive messages include the power of generosity, integrity, and compassion; the importance of protecting others; the importance of following through on your duty/responsibilities; and faith that the journey toward Mary and Joseph (and baby Jesus) had an important purpose. Promotes the idea that friends support and help one another. Positive Role Models & Representations Mary and Joseph are faithful, loving, and caring -- Mary in particular cares about the animals that turn up on the couple's journey toward Bethlehem. Bo starts out dreaming of glory and adventure and then finds his purpose through staying with Mary and helping her and Joseph. Many of the animals feel strongly convicted to follow a particular path. Some of the dangerous animals redeem themselves after Jesus' birth. King Herod is cruel and selfish, but he and his minions are clearly portrayed as bad guys in the wrong. Mary doesn't look particularly Middle Eastern. A sequence between Herod's enforcers and a village includes peril and some frightening animals (including angry dogs), but no one is seriously hurt. Characters navigate some perilous paths and cliffs on their journey. Bo's initial companion sacrifices his safety so Bo can escape. Herod plots against Mary and Joseph; his minions can be intimidating. Mary and Joseph are affectionate. Drinking, Drugs & Smoking Stay up to date on new reviews. Inspired by the Nativity story, THE STAR follows Bo the donkey (voiced by Steven Yeun), who dreams of escaping his dull duties working for the village miller and finding glory and adventure in the outside world. One day he manages to escape and eventually teams up with Ruth ( Aidy Bryant), a sheep who's lost her flock, and Dave ( Keegan-Michael Key), a wisecracking dove. The trio begins an action-packed journey to follow a star that's leading them toward young, pregnant Mary ( Gina Rodriguez) and her husband, Joseph ( Zachary Levi), who've been forced by royal decree to travel to Bethlehem. Meanwhile, King Herod's ( Christopher Plummer) henchmen, armed with a few scary attack animals, are on the lookout for pregnant women like Mary -- but Bo and his friends are ready to protect their human friends. Is it any good? With a great voice cast and cute character animation, this religious tale is just funny and entertaining enough to amuse most families who celebrate Christmas, not just devout church-goers. The Star manages to finely balance the biblical aspects of the Nativity story with the sillier elements associated with animated talking-animal movies. TV star Yeun ( The Walking Dead) plays Bo with an earnest hopefulness, which is balanced well by Dave, the knowing, joke-cracking dove voiced by comedian Key. Kids will likely connect with the animals more than they do the biblical adults, who are well acted but far more serious, considering everything that a heavily pregnant Mary (who for some reason has pretty pale skin and huge blue eyes) and Joseph (who at least looks Middle Eastern) are going through to travel from Nazareth to Bethlehem. Although the movie's subject matter is clearly religious, it isn't overtly preachy (unlike many other faith-based films). Still, it's definitely aimed at families that already celebrate Christmas. But it's light enough to amuse kids, and parents will get a kick out of the cast, which also includes turns by Oprah Winfrey, Tyler Perry, Kristin Chenoweth, Anthony Anderson, Tracy Morgan, and more. The catchy soundtrack includes a variety of secular, gospel, and Christian superstars -- including Mariah Carey (who sings the theme song), Kirk Franklin, Casting Crowns, and Pentatonix -- singing a mix of classic and contemporary Christmas songs like "We Three Kings" and "Breath of Heaven (Mary's Song). " Bottom line? The Star will definitely appeal to Christian families with young kids as a holiday season pick. Talk to your kids about... Families can talk about the messages of family, faith, and friendship in The Star. What does Bo learn on his journey that leads him to Mary and Joseph? How does he change over the course of the movie? How do some of the characters exemplify integrity and compassion? Why are those important character strengths? Who's the target audience for this movie? Do you need to be Christian to appreciate its story and themes/messages? Why do you think movies about talking animals are so fascinating and funny to kids? Character Strengths Our editors recommend Funny holiday special spreads goodwill and joy. Classic story retold in funny, touching Muppet romp. Witty slapstick fun for all; some cartoon mayhem. Fabulous, funny holiday movie about the Christmas spirit. Okay fine, you can play ONE metal song... Loveeee you Demi! such an amazing voice! This girl can sing. I wasn't sure how well I would enjoy this film, but I absolutely loved it! I especially loved Gina Rodrigues' portrayal of Mary as an intelligent, kind and thoughtful young woman with a sense of humor and love for animals. As a Christian, I found this retelling of the birth of Jesus very meaningful. Of course all of the animal antics were created for comedic and entertainment effect, but the essential details were correct, from the appearance of the angel Gabriel to Mary, to Mary's cousin Elizabeth and Zechariah, her priestly husband who was strung dumb for his lack of faith, to King Herod's murderous obsession for the destruction of the Christ child. Like I said, I loved this film and believe most others will, too.

", Mary is visited by an angel telling her she will bear the Messiah. A pygmy jerboa named Abby overhears and tells the other animals as a star begins glowing brightly in the night. Six months later, a young donkey is tired of milling wheat and wishes to join a traveling caravan so that he may feel important. An older donkey helps him escape the miller who owns them and he ends up with an injured ankle at the house of Joseph and Mary who just celebrated their wedding. Mary takes the donkey in and names him Boaz, or Bo, and reveals to Joseph that she is pregnant, with Joseph accepting Mary's situation after praying to God. During this time, Bo and his dove friend Dave, plot to escape despite Mary's kindness, but end up staying three more months. Meanwhile, the three wise men and their camels, Felix, Cyrus and Deborah, arrive at the home of King Herod. The wise men reveal their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh, but when they reveal that it is for the "new King", he sends them on their way to meet him, but secretly sends his hunter and his two dogs, Thaddeus and Rufus, to find and kill the new King. As Joseph and Mary leave Nazareth in order to head to Bethlehem, Bo and Dave try another escape, but are confronted by Thaddeus (a wolf) and Rufus (a bull terrier), who knew of the home by interrogating Abby. After learning that Joseph and Mary are not home, the hunter and his dogs leave to look for them. Feeling guilty, Bo decides to warn them with Dave joining him. Along the way they meet a friendly sheep named Ruth who left her flock when she saw the star. They catch up to Joseph and Mary in time to warn them, and hide them in a market place where the hunter ties up his dogs. Bo releases the cart Joseph and Mary were using to roll down and cause a chain reaction that knocks the hunter down a well. However, he creates severe damage to the market in the process, and Joseph, unaware of the danger, berates Bo for his actions. Upset with being rejected, Bo leaves and Dave follows until they arrive at the caravan. While happy to have found it, Bo realizes that he liked being with Mary and tells Dave, who admits that he isn't upset and that he just wants Bo to be happy with his decision. Together, the two return and make up with Ruth, and then convince a frustrated Joseph to talk to Mary. Mary admits that it has been difficult for her and that she is scared of the importance of the baby, and Joseph and she make up when the latter begins having contractions. They arrive at Bethlehem where Joseph can't find an inn for Mary. The miller, who just so happened to be there, kidnaps Bo with Dave and Ruth leaving to rescue him. The wise men arrive as well, but the camels, who are aware of Herod's plot, are left tied to a post. Bo ends up in a stable where he meets a horse named Leah, a cow named Edith, and a goat named Zach. They reveal that they haven't been able to sleep because the star's bright light has been shining through on their manger. Realizing that this is where the baby is supposed to be, the animals help Bo escape and he catches up with Dave and Ruth while spotting the hunter and his dogs. Bo finds Joseph and Mary and gets them back to the stable while Dave runs into Cyrus, Felix and Deborah and helps them escape. Ruth finds her flock (who had previously refused to follow her), and tries to convince them to help, but gets unexpected help from the angel who informs the shepherds and the sheep that the Savior is coming. Bo manages to fight off Thaddeus and Rufus, but is outdone by the hunter. Suddenly, Ruth and her flock, the camels and Dave arrive and dispatch with them by having them hang from a cliff. The hunter lets his dogs fall, but they are saved by Bo while it's implied the hunter himself falls to his death. All of the animals (who are now joined by Abby who assumed the danger to be ongoing and the redeemed Thaddeus & Rufus), shepherds, and three wise men arrive to see baby Jesus. Bo realizes that he has been carrying the new King the whole time. Deborah predicts that this event will be remembered around the world for years to come. During the credits, it is shown in pictures that Joseph buys Bo from the miller, and both Bo and Dave help him and Mary raise Jesus. Cast [ edit] Main Animal Characters Bo ( Steven Yeun) - A young mill donkey who is loyal yet worrysome. He sees the star one night thinking it's a sign that his life is soon to change. When he hears of the Royal Caravan marching into Nazareth, he feels this is his purpose and escapes to try to join it. But when he encounters Mary, he feels more dedicated to be with her and keep her out of danger. Dave ( Keegan-Michael Key) - A sarcastic and egotiscial dove who is Bo's best friend. He joins Bo on his quest to join the Royal Caravan but is more set on that than he is at helping others. Ruth ( Aidy Bryant) - A light-hearted, bubbly and naive sheep who left her flock to follow the star. She later joins Bo and Dave on their journey to Bethlehem with Mary and Joseph. At first, she's a nuisance to them, but Bo later grows a soft spot for her and soon becomes friends with her. Thaddeus ( Ving Rhames) - A sinister wolfdog who is determined to find the Son of God for his master. Rufus ( Gabriel Iglesias) - An alaunt who is Thaddeus' dimwitted sidekick. Cyrus ( Tyler Perry) - The leader of the three camels. He is smart, calm and collective but usually isn't always right. Felix ( Tracy Morgan) - The youngest of the three camels. He's the loudmouth comic relief of the trio, and he often gets into arguments with Cyrus. Deborah ( Oprah Winfrey) - The only female of the three camels. She's the most down-to-earth of the trio, but the other two often think she's crazy despite her attempts at being the voice of reason and keeping her cohorts in check. Edith ( Patricia Heaton) - A cow who lives at the stable where Mary and Joseph eventually end up at. She's the most level-headed of the animals who reside at the stable and is mostly unamused and pessimistic. Leah ( Kelly Clarkson) - A horse who lives at the stable where Mary and Joseph eventually end up at. She loves to sing, but more often than not, her singing is obnoxiously loud, which is most likely caused by her lack of sleep. Zach ( Anthony Anderson) - A goat who lives at the stable where Mary and Joseph eventually end up at. He has deformed eyes and is very hyper and paranoid due to the lack of sleep he got since the star began to shine over the stable. Abby ( Kristin Chenoweth) - A small rodent who first witnesses the Angel coming to Mary. She tells her friends about it and tries to warn the others about the hunter. Main Human Characters Mary ( Gina Rodriguez) - A young woman soon to be the Mother of Jesus, the Son of God. She's loving and caring. Joseph ( Zachary Levi) - A young carpenter who Mary marries. He's usually pessimistic and paranoid. King Herod ( Christopher Plummer) - A king from a far-away land who hears about the new King who is arriving and sends the three wise men out to find Him in Bethlehem. The Miller ( Phil Morris) - Bo's former owner who is determined to get him back after he escaped from his mill. The Hunter ( Lex Lang) - A large, sinister, yet silent hunter whom King Herod sends out to kill the new King. Other Characters The Angel (Joel McCrary) Old Donkey ( Kris Kristofferson) Caspar ( Joel Osteen) Balthazar ( Phil Morris) Melchior ( Fred Tatasciore) Rebecca ( Mariah Carey) Elizabeth ( Delilah) Zachariah (Joel McCrary) Pottery Vendor ( Fred Tatasciore) Chamberlain ( Roger Craig Smith) Scribe ( Joe Whyte) Horse (William Townsend) Goat (William Townsend) Innkeeper voices provided by Gregg Berger, Roger Craig Smith, Melissa Sturm, Fred Tatasciore, and Joe Whyte. Production [ edit] The film's script was originally developed during the late 1990s by the Jim Henson Company, partially inspired by the success of the 1995 film Babe. [8] [9] In September 2014, it was reported that DeVon Franklin would produce a faith-based film inspired by the Nativity story under his production company, Franklin Entertainment, in collaboration with Sony Pictures Animation. [10] In April 2015, Variety reported that Timothy Reckart would direct the film in his directing debut. [6] On August 5, 2015, it was announced that the film, then titled The Lamb, was given an official release date of December 8, 2017. [11] On June 20, 2016, it was announced that Brian Henson and Lisa Henson from The Jim Henson Company would be executive producers for the film, now titled The Star, [12] making it the first Henson-produced film for Sony since The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland in 1999. In an interview with Animation Magazine, Reckart expressed that he felt encouraged to direct the film, as he felt that there was a lack of Christmas films centering on the Nativity of Jesus: "It felt like an opportunity to be part of a movie that has not been done before, that's really going to fill a void. " [8] The animation was produced by Cinesite Studios. [13] Animation work began on January 2017. [8] Casting [ edit] On January 5, 2017, it was reported that Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry would be in the film. [14] The rest of the cast was announced on January 19, 2017. Pentatonix also contributes a bonus track to the digital release of the album. [15] The main single The Star, interpreted by Mariah Carey ranked at No. 6 on the Billboard US Holiday Digital Song Sales in 2017. [25] Critical response [ edit] On review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes, the film has an average rating by critics of 42% based on 52 reviews, with an average rating of 4. 94/10. The site's critical consensus reads, " The Star may not leave audiences singing 'Hallelujah', but its offbeat yet sincere approach to the nativity story makes for acceptably diverting holiday viewing. " [26] On Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating to reviews, the film has a weighted average score of 42 out of 100, based on 12 critics, indicating "mixed or average reviews". [27] Audiences polled by CinemaScore gave the film an average grade of "A" on an A+ to F scale. [25] The A. V. Club ' s Ignatiy Vishnevetsky criticized The Star as a "rote cartoon feature" existing for purely commercial reasons: ".. the kid-friendliest, Sunday-school-iest kind of religious art can't spring from religion alone; it needs artistry, too. Otherwise, you end up with a generic product aimed at a market segment who'll buy anything as long as it seems sufficiently churchy. The star movie scenes. This is very apt, for a couple going through a struggle to be with each other, due the differences in culture families trying to tear each other apart #lovehasnodifference #gypsy #countryman #sincewemet1994. Donkey 💭 hold my beer 🐏🐑 sheep let's flock em 😂👍. I took my 7 year old son to see this film and we had a great time. He was laughing out loud at the animals and their antics. There is a scary soldier that was pursuing Mary and Joseph, but not too scary. If you are interested in the traditional Christmas story for your is just the ticket. Great animation. Funny characters. Happy and uplifting. I wish they would make more kids movies like this.

Pakistan is known for its fast bowler but today they are ruthless.
'The Star' is a delightful animated adaptation of the story of the Nativity of Jesus, aimed for younger children. It includes a lot of entertaining animal characters (some of which accompanied Jesus in the manger when he was born) and some songs to make it appealing to young and old alike. While not exactly Disney-standard, there a lot of redeeming qualities that differentiate 'The Star' from other uninspired adaptations.
This film follows the story of Bo, the ambitious donkey working for the town's miller who wants to be part of the Royal Caravan one day. One day he manages to escape with the help of his old friends, who at last recognizes the beauty of Bo's dreams. By focusing on Bo instead of Christ or the story as it is written in the Bible, I was initially afraid that this film was going to be out of focus. You might argue that it still is so it can amuse its very young target audience. But I believe that at in its heart this film is still about Christ, the film just uses Bo's story to give a fresh perspective on the narrative of the Nativity we all know so well.
This point is worth some emphasis. 'The Star' focuses more on Bo than on Christ, more on Herod's buff soldier who tries to hunt down Joseph and the pregnant Mary than Herod himself, more on the camels carrying The Three Wise Men on their journey following the Star to the place where the Messiah is born in Bethlehem than on the Three Wise Men themselves and so on. Yet, when taking into consideration its target audience of young children, most of them not older than 7 or 8 years, it wouldn't have made a lot of sense to portray the story of the Nativity as it truly was, with all of the persecution (of Christ by Herod) and bloodshed ( the massacre of the innocents" the real story has. If you want a loyal adaptation of the story of the Nativity for your children, unfortunately you have to look elsewhere, but if you want a lighthearted, fresh and new perspective this is as good as it gets.
A lot of comic relief is supplied by Bo's amusing and loyal friend, the pigeon Dave. The villain, as those familiar with the Bible should know, is Herod, voiced by Christopher Plummer. The voice acting, it must be said, is not outstanding, in the sense that none of them really stand out, not even Mariah Carey as the horse, Rebecca, or Oprah Winfrey as one of the Three Wise Men's camels, Deborah. Nevertheless, all of the voice actors manage to get the job done satisfactorily.
To conclude, I would like to add something about the film's religious theme and inspiration. Even if you're not a particularly religious person, you cannot fail to appreciate the epic grandeur and poetic beauty of the biblical account of the Nativity, such as the metaphoric and symbolic nature of the Star and the ironic facts that Jesus, the son of God, was born in a manger of all places and that Bo does end up working in a royal caravan by accompanying Joseph and Mary. The point the film wants to emphasize is that we are all following our own unique star, like Bo and Joseph and Mary, even if some of us don't know where it is leading us or going to lead us yet.
I would recommend 'The Star' which offers a fresh new perspective to the story we all know so well, obviously keeping in mind all of the liberties in takes. To their credit, the producers do try to preserve all of the Christian values and significance that are to be found in the biblical account of the Nativity (if not the Bible itself. And that's arguably the most important thing in an adaptation like this film.
