Pottering report of a bicycle in Japan

Pottering report of a bicycle along the Iiyama Line. Vol.1

On the JR Iiyama Line, I am heading to Kaesa Station.  It is two stations before Iiyama station.  Now that a new road has been built, National Route 117 parallel to the Iiyama Line is no longer used, however I went through this road to ski at Nozawa Onsen.(photo/There are few passengers inside the Iiyama line, and I can sit in the box seat. The fun feeling of traveling alone increases.)

When I get off at the platform at Kaesa Station, the train stops on the other side.  You can hear the melody song "Oborotsukiyo" that leaves the train.  Yes, this former Toyoda Village is the birthplace of  late Tatsuyuki Takano, the lyricist of the famous song "Furusato" and "Spring has came".  Mr. Takano is also drawn on the information board in front of the station (photo).

I was planning to take Route 117, but I choose the one with a good atmosphere. However, I am worried that the road will be cut off.  I was prepared, but on a steep slope, in front of the shrine on the way, I gave up riding a bicycle.  However, I walk by pushing a bicycle, and the voice of the bird is a nice background music.

If you look back from the hills, you can see the beautiful scenery so that the hardships are rewarded.  The colors of the leaves are different, and it is as beautiful as paint. You can see the Alps of the remaining snow in the distance.

After a while, it descends down a slope and is almost as high as the Chikuma River.  Last week, I rode my bicycle through the Yoshii River in Okayama Prefecture, and it was comfortable with few ups and downs, however the Chikuma River is not.  Eventually, I joined National Road 117, but there are ups and downs on this road as well.

I saw a train coming towards me, far away from the Iiyama Line, which runs parallel to the national Road.  Since there are few trains in the daytime, I go near the tracks to take pictures of the trains.  The green railroad vehicles that appears soon seems to be blending in with the fresh green.

Prefectural road 117 is the Komaki Bridge(Back of the photo), which is seen ahead, and joins the national Route from Nakano City.  If you turn left from there, Iiyama City is already near.  It is the first time for me to see Mt. Kosha (altitude of 1351 meters) symbolizing this area from the west side in this way.
