This movie is chilling and the few jump scares are done right. This is a faithful reboot to the great Ju-on movie and if you love the US remake you will love this one. Well I watched it, wasn't great, wasn't bad either so half and half. 2018. I could not start the year better and more chilling, The Grudge is a solid film that continues and refreshes the exhausted saga. With blunt performances and a surprising script, The Grudge becomes the first joy that gives us 2020.

I mean, at least shes inheriting all that money. She was his wife, after all. Edit: wow this blew up! and Id like to address a few of the comments Ive seen down there. 1. There is no reason to assume that marriage papers werent signed. Vows were exchanged in front of an officiant, so its pretty safe to assume shes legally “part of the family”, ritual or not. 2. Saying “I want a divorce” seconds before your husbands violent explosion is not the same as getting a divorce, she instead becomes a widow. Of course she could refuse her claim to the money, but honestly why would she want to? 3. It is established that every member of the family, wether family by birth or marriage is affected by the curse, which means that there are literally no other people the money could go to, assuming the wills all list family as the recipients (which is pretty safe to assume) 4. The dead bodies in the stables are evidence FOR her innocence/self defence claims, not against them. Aunt Helenas husband was clearly murdered (murder weapons still embedded in his chest and all) 30 years ago, while she was still a child. Admittedly the family all being blown up might be difficult to explain, but considering all the crazy shit in that house (including security cameras, by the way) it should be pretty easy to prove her innocence. 5. Yeah the estate burned down with a bunch of valuable stuff in it, but do you really think these guys have never heard of a bank? Or stocks/investments? Shell do just fine. Just left theatre and it is just a classic style Grudge. I didn't expect to be shocked or see something I've never seen before. I'm happy the horror genre is still making movies that we can enjoy. Lately I've been falling asleep during movies but this did keep my attention. Don't give bad reviews expecting so much. Just enjoy the movie and jump scare anticipation.
