7 things which I’ve learned during lockdown

I am writing about what I’ve learned during lockdown.

Looking back, of course during this month I’ve not always experienced brilliant things in my daily life, Eiji has been stressed about not being able to play in the park, and there is more housework than before.

However, during this period, both physically and mentally, I have been able to find more marvelous factors for my future life. I’d like to introduce 7 things which I’ve learned from this difficult time, in other words, the precious concept of “liberty in restriction”.

Firstly, I found how important it is that we set a time schedule each day to avoid being lazy, especially for kids.Every morning I make a rough plan, including a meal plan for that day. Everyday might look the same but it’s not true. We can make little adventures and exciting times like tea in the garden and making flower arrangements, every day if we want. They can vary a little the pace of my life.

Secondly, I think little daily lovely times sometimes need an organized home. It’s better that all things in your house have been pit in the place where they belong. This is the most essential decluttering rule. If you designate a spot and you're scrupulous about putting things away in it, your things will always be there when you look for them.

Thirdly, I enjoy cooking everyday. Now the priority of our life has totally changed. “Time” isn’t the most important any more. So it gives us time to try new recipes which we avoided before because they require a longer time to cook, such as bouillabase or Basque chicken

Fourthly, I’m paying more attention to my son, Eiji. Now I’m never in a hurry because I don’t have any appointments, which means it makes me more patient towards him. Now is a lovely time to watch your kids’ growth which we overlook in normal times.

Fifthly, I could appreciate the joy of jogging again, which was one of my most exciting hobbies, and which I haven’t done for 2 years. Almost everyday I do 30 mins-jog. It makes me more positive and refreshed. This time is suitable for adding new habits and activities to your daily life.

Sixthly, I take care to keep a good distance on social media. Some comments which are posted might unintentionally make the others feel bad, and others may make us angry....

One last thing which is most meaningful for me in lockdown is learning more about the UK. During this time I’ve heard more attractive news about the British people in the fight against Covid19. Just to mention the NHS, lots of brilliant fund-raising campaigns have occurred all over this country. It made me realise the hidden generosity and caring nature of the British people and to appreciate living here more.
