Hampton Fancher. directed by=Denis Villeneuve. 8,1 / 10 stars. 164 min. Canada. Review=Los Angeles, 2049: in a hyper-technological and overpopulated city, KD6-3.7 (Ryan Gosling) is a Nexus 8, an improved replicant from the previous Nexus 6 (androids physically humans, but smarter and stronger) that in 2019 they were pursued and retired by special agents named "Blade Runners", who works as a Blade Runner "retiring" the remnants of the Nexus 6, living with a lovely home hologram named Joi (Ana de Armas) as only one company. In his last case to locate and retire a replicant named Sapper Morton (Dave Bautista), "K" finds traces of a burial close to Morton's home, and he unearths a mysterious box where are discovered the mortal remains of Rachael (Sean Young), a replicant who was missing since 2019 after she fled with Blade Runner Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford). Discovering the impossible that Rachael was pregnant, and that possibly her child could be alive, Lieutenant Joshi (Robin Wright) orders "K" to find and destroy Rachael's descendant before the news is known to the public eye, and it causes a mass hysteria. But this revelation is known by blind scientist Niander Wallace (Jared Leto), owner of Wallace Corporation, creator and manufacturer of the Nexus 8 (heir of the previous Tyrell Corporation that manufactured the Nexus 6 that had collapsed during a world blackout in 2022), who is obsessed to create replicants able to bring new life. Unknown to "K", Wallace orders his personal assistant, a Nexus 8 named Luv (Sylvia Hoeks), to find Deckard in order to get him to reveal the location of the child he had with Rachael. But the mission gets complicated for "K" when he starts to question his own false memories, wondering if he could be Deckard's child, and not the replicant that he was thought to be. As "K"'s investigation progresses, and his steps point toward Deckard, Luv's steps point toward "K", in a race against the clock to see who finds Deckard first

I cried many times, but manly, whiskey tears. The movie ended up feeling like Dragon ball Z in moments with wayyyy over dramatic moments, and honestly alot of confusion. Grand scene. You're a big guy 3:15. Sylvia Hoeks as Luv playing her role so good. The emotions I was feeling during this sequence were just a roller coaster ride. A truely unforgettable experience. That's the first Decent shit i have had in three weeks Old Guy In Alps Retirement. Love it. Great video! BR 2049 was indeed superior to the original. That being said, I feel like the music in the background of your video is a bit too loud. Bah Gawd! He killed him! As God as my witness, he is broken in half. Loved the video. Couldnt agree more, subbed. This is a very, very bad movie. It is insultingly dim and makes me want to fight for the cause of some sort of "money-return" policy for cinemas. I simply don't think cinemas should have a blank check for taking people's money for such atrocities. The only way I'd keep any respect for Mr. Villeneuve is if he asked for this movie to be ascribed to Adam Smith. It doesn't get much dumber than this. I would have no problems saying that Phantom Menace does more justice to Star Wars than this movie does to the original Blade Runner. It is as if screenwriter never read anything in his life. I'm happy to see Tyler Perry makes more money than this shame. Mr. Villeneuve, you should be ashamed of yourself. You took the lead from all the Lucas' Spielbergs, Scotts of the world.
What a slow movie. Even the dumpster looks magestic. Is this an advert for consuming human burgers? Geesus! Atleast make the burger look slightly offputting, damn. It breaks my heart that this movie made so little money compared to a Fast and Furious or Transformers movie. maybe further sequels or spinoffs would have followed if it had been a success. I like it better without the voiceover narration. Plus I hate the use of the N-word. I'm Black so please be understanding. K's WTF triple-blink as missiles suddenly rain down is pitch perfect: the reaction of a superhuman mind stunned and struggling to process new data.
I loved this movie; thought it a worthy sequel to Ripley's original; and understand that everything in the plot was meticulously arranged for a REASON but, riddle me this, why did not Wallace Corp. simply milk Decker during unconsciousness via electrical stimulation of his prostate to then implant his seminal matter in hundreds of Rachael recreations? Would that not prove easier and perhaps, experimentally, more advantageous then exhaustively hunting down a singular being? Granted, it means a nine month wait for test subjects to be born but if you just extract genetic material from Decker for laboratory impregnantion and observation you have the added benefit of methodically and thoroughly recording the entire process from fertilization to evacuation AND being able to work with and run tests on a multitude of proto-embryos, fetuses, and infants enabling stem cell research and all-encompassing developmental comprehension of EVERYTHING related to replicant gestation, both of which IMPOSSIBLE with the now grown daughter thereof unless via dubiously effective retroactive cloning whose products would yield, in all likelihood, more defective and embryonically problematic second hand copies. I know, I know, it is necessary to continue delving into the Christian symbolism and the progression of the plot but the biologist in me is screaming out, YOU'VE GOT A PERFECTLY VIABLE SPERM BANK AND NOW A GENETICALLY IDENTICAL INCUBATOR. Get them to R&D and GET BUSY. WILMUT'S BALLS! GET IN THERE; SCIENCE AND INDUSTRY DEPEND ON YOU YOU CATARACTIC BASTARD! Go! Go! Go.
I'm on my 20th time watching this sequel. and everytime I get emotional when Kai finds out about his memories. Did you hear the starter crank over slowly when the pilot tried to start the ion drive engine. Incredible movie - a masterpiece. I bought the DVD and Ive watched it 5 times in a week. Its a world you do not want to leave for some strange reason. I even bought the soundtrack. have not done that for years and years. The sets, art direction, cinematography - the performances. and it makes you think - for ages after the movie. You question the world you are living in and where we are going - it changes the way you perceive things. Is this the theatrical cut.
It's sad that people ignored this movie. In my opinion, it's a masterpiece. At 2:08 Deckard leans forward, and Wallace actually flinches back a little, despite being blind. It's incredibly subtle, but a really cool detail. And somehow this is the scene moment of Jared Leto in this film. Blade runner made the eye opening a cliché, that doesnt count.
