They made a mistake with Cliff's watch. It's a Citizen Bullhead that wasn't actually released until 1972, while the movie is set in '69. Brad Pitt killed the role as stunt man... When Rick, Cliff and Rick's new wife arrive back from Italy they walk past the mosaic wall that features in the opening scene of Jackie Brown. I can't believe that I cried at the end. You will either love it or hate. 2/3 of the movie is very slowpaced and you get what to seeHollywood was like in 1969 through the eyes of Rick Dalton(DiCaprio) Cliff Booth(Brad Pitt) and Sharon Tate(Margot Robbie. You meet real characters like Bruce Lee(Mike Mo) and Steve McQueen(Damian Lewis. There are som fictional Characters like Marvin Shwarz(Al Pacino) and Randy(Kurt Russell.
The 2/3 of the movie also has a lot of great acting. Leo and Brad Pitt had great chemistry and were both very funny. There are a lot of qiuck jokes and funny scenes by Leo and especially Brad Pitt. One of the best and funniest scenes in the movie was the scene were Rick Dalton goes into his wagon after forgeting his lines. Leo nailed it. What you will miss is all of the violence and blood that are in other Tarantino movies and not much actually happens
The reason you have to watch it twice is the third part of thw movie. If you now anything about the Manson murders, then you will feel a lot of tension when the people who were sent to kill Sharon and her friends arrived at their neighboorhood. You will think "How is Quentin going to show this" but since Quentin is Quentin he changed everythig. He made the Mansons meet Rick in his driveway, so they would change their minds and want to kill him instead. When they break into the house and meet Cliff, all of that violence and gore Tarantino is famous for kicks in and one of the best endings happens, where Sharon doesn't die. After that bizzare end that has vibes from Inglorious Basterds, the title of the movie gets shown on the screen, because this is a movie. It's Quentins fantasy and he can do whatever he wants with it.
Truly great.

I think Quentin has finally managed to disappear up his own backside. His self indulgence (whilst merely overbearing in 'The Hateful Eight' is total in this seemingly never ending meander through Hollywood's 'Golden' Age...

The performances are superb - Pitt, DiCaprio and Robbie are all so very watchable and drag the rating up to 4 stars (one for each actor and one for the scene where Pitt beats up Bruce Lee. But the movie itself consists of, well, nothing. Nothing at all. The story of a fading actor and his side-kick is just not interesting. Sharon Tate flits around charmingly for no reason at all (as it turns out. The Manson Family come across more as an angry girl guide troop than the terrifying menace they actually were.

It's slow, slow, slow all the way without the slightest bit of suspense as we are subjected to scene after scene of people driving around whilst listening to the radio and inane movies within movies.

The diabolical murder of Sharon Tate and her friends is a crime so awful and a piece of American history so upsetting that to mess with the narrative is both insulting and pointless. How can one look for laughs in the shadow of Cielo Drive in 1969? Wow! They went to the house next door instead. Hilarious!
